Maybe 3 is getting rushed into theatres out of fear that a proper Salva boycott could gain momentum if the film was announced for a release 8 months from now. Maybe it was the plan all along to rush it into theatres.

Yeah, i am not impressed with the idea of wedging the film in the timeline between movies 1 and 2. I really liked how the second movie ended and it would have been cool to have it pick up from that point. Funny thing though, the character Ray Wise plays in the movie, he spends all those years waiting for it to come back alive. Surely he could have used his time better. How about melting down some metal and encasing it therein?

Jeepers Creepers 3 has been the subject of extreme controversy since before the first frame was filmed. The crimes of writer/director Victor Salva have cast a shadow over every aspect of this turbulent production. Despite completing the film fans have been clamoring to see for over a decade, the film is still struggling.
We had previously promoted an advanced screening of Jeepers Creepers 3 to be held in Los Angeles on September 13th. This event sold out in a matter of days and stars from all 3 Jeepers Creepers movies were slated to attend. Fans and industry insiders from all over the world, not to mention out of state cast members, had all booked travel and hotel rooms in order to attend.
We’re just getting word that the screening on 9/13 has been canceled.
Promoter/Organizer Kory Davis gave a news conference this afternoon to break the sad news, where he was able to elaborate on the circumstances that turned what could have been a historic event into an epic disappointment. I;d previously spoken to Davis at several steps during the planning stages, and he’s done everything humanly possible to make this event a success.
"I want to make it 100% clear: This is not Davis’ fault; over the years he’s produced many successful screenings throughout Los Angeles, including an incredible double-feature of Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky last month. These truly are circumstances beyond his control. The event was legitimate and was intended to be the world premiere of Jeepers Creepers 3."
The decision to cancel was made by the TCL Chinese Theater after they received threats of protest. They were contacted by individuals who promised not only to protest the event on 9/13 but to protest out front of the theaters every day between now and then. The theater has a sterling reputation in Los Angeles, and aren’t willing to risk their name. Despite the mess and heartache this has caused among many parties involved, Davis supports the Chinese Theater’s decision completely.
Jeepers Creepers 3 will be released nationwide on 1 night only, September 26th.

Not caring about the "controversy" and still wanting to see his films is one thing, you should have stated it that simply and not brought in a ridiculous comparison, imho.

I'm not going to support Salva's film in theaters but I will admit that as a filmmaker he has a great sense of Gothic atmosphere and he knows how to shoot horror. Yes, he is a huge piece of shit but talent is talent.

What I don't get is EVERY time since 1995 (when Powder came out) Victor Salva puts out a new movie, his past comes to light and people come out protesting it. Wouldn't any studio that deals with him have figured out by now that this is ALWAYS going to happen and either be prepared for the backlash or decide they don't want to deal with it and not put the movie out?
I bought Clownhouse on laserdisc out of morbid curiosity, regardless of what happened behind the scenes it is NOT a very good movie. Jeepers Creepers was one of the last movies I projected on film, thought it was OK as a movie but that doesn't change Victor Salva being a sick bastard. There's hardly a movie I won't watch (but many I won't spend money on), but I could live without seeing any more of his films.

That's the interesting thing about this whole thing. At least Polanski and Woody Allen are talented directors who are hard to replace. With Salva, I don't think anyone but hardcore fans would realize it if the studio replaced him with a young director-for-hire for Jeepers Creepers 3.

I honestly didn't know about what Salva did until the last week or so. That definitely kinda ruins the first two of these films which I like (more the first). Was interested to see the new film but I don't know if I want to now.

I've never seen any of his other movies. I like the first two Jeepers Creepers films but I was never a diehard fan and didn't even know the director's name until reading the story of what he did.

Yeah, I didn't know it until recently also. Not sure how since it happened in 1988, but whatever. In addition to the actual molestation of the boy, he also had boxes of child porn in his house.
