Damn. Last weekend I met Heather Langenkamp at a horror con here.

I didn't know he had cancer. Really enjoyed a lot of his movies.

He had one of the sharpest minds in horror. Met him after a live commentary screening of ANoES years ago and he couldn't have been nicer.

Don't care too much for the horror genre, but I liked the first NOES as a kid. Didn't care too much for the sequels. Like most would have been best to stop at one.

Completely unexpected. As a fan of old school horror Craven is one of the greats by far. I was never the biggest fan of Freddy Krueger who's probably his most famous character but I give credit to the character and franchise as being one of the most iconic in horror and pop culture in general. I loved a bunch of his other films like The Hills Have Eyes, The People Under the Stairs, Scream, etc. RIP to a legend.

My 14yo. recently started watching the new "Scream" series on MTV and we've now been watching the movies on Netflix. In fact, we just watched "Scream 2" last night. RIP, Mr. Craven, and thank you for reinvigorating the horror genre at least twice in my lifetime.

This one stings. I mean the guy brought back horror with Scream when the genre was laughable.
I thought it was another internet joke since TMZ nor CNN had it at the time I heard.
Like many, I wasn't aware that he was even battling cancer.
