Sigh. Such sudden and sad news.
Thank you for the many, many scares through years, Mr. Craven. May your soul rest in peace.

RIP Wes - loved his movies, huge influence on me growing up. Was lucky enough to meet him 10 years ago while he was promoting Red Eye, had a nice chat with him, got a few autographs and a pic - he was extremely nice. A total class act. He will be missed.

I just hope Craven died peacefully in his sleep with no pain. I know brain cancer slowly ravages the body with the headaches, dizziness and declining motor functions.
I follow his Twitter feed and he tweeted semi-regularly and had been over the last few months. His last tweet was 8 days ago, so one could presume he took a turn for the worst then. But, I don't recall his last public appearance or interview.

I just heard about this. Very sad news. It's always good to hear first hand stories about how nice a celebrity was in real life. Wes seemed to be one of the nicest.
A lot of love for ANOES and Scream but for me nothing beats The Serpent and the Rainbow. Top notch filmmaking, horror or otherwise!

I've got to give him props for Swamp Thing, which IMHO is one of the unfairly overlooked early comic book movies, and a great "B-movie" time.

Like many others, I had no idea he was sick. Some people just want to keep that stuff private. RIP
A Nightmare on Elm Street & Scream are two of my favorites. I also enjoyed several of his other films.

Horrible news to get home to last night. I know a lot of people goofed on some of his movies (Vampire in Brooklyn?), but I genuinely enjoyed everything I watched that he'd directed. I was always a big fan.

Interestingly, I just saw Last House on the Left and the Hills have Eyes for the first time a few weeks ago.

That sucks
...just rewatched his episode of Boston Legal the other day where he has to defend a sex tape as having artistic merit.

I watched the NOES movies for last year's horror challenge and I enjoyed most of them. I knew nothing about New Nightmare so it was a hidden gem for me. Wes had a gift for making movies and we're fortunate that he shared so many of them with us.
Thanks Wes!

Very sad news.
I'm a big horror fan but his films were hit & miss with me. I can't even say i have a favorite, although Serpent & the Rainbow & Deadly Blessing would be up there.

I wasn't aware he was sick, so this comes as a big surprise. Also a surprise, I didn't realize he was in his mid-70's.

Two Thumbs up Mr. Craven!!! My love affair with his movies started with Swamp Thing. My mother took my brother and I to the movies for that one. My first theater movie.

Craven was able to ground some of the most ridiculous stuff imaginable, and that takes true skill.
