While that's certainly true of most of FF's run, the first half dozen issues or so had a different tone. Some of it was dark, at last darker than what the Marvel U would become.

They fucked up the reboot again so trying to make the sequel seems like a bad move and rebooting a third time would be pathetic.
Aside from those ideas I'd say working with Marvel Studios or selling the rights back are their smartest choices. The franchise is doing nothing for them at this point.

I don't want to see this anywhere near the X-Men franchise.

I don't necessarily either but I'm just saying I think that's about the best option they have at trying to make the franchise work if they're intent on keeping it.

I know what you mean. At this point though now that it's out, I don't know if they'd want to mix such a debacle, universally panned mess into one of the only commercially viable franchises they have.

Just saw this today in the theaters. It was complete trash and bombed so badly. Worse yet is that the director of this hot mess REFUSES to take any blame for this movie's complete and utter failure.

No, it was modulated but all over the place. Sometimes deep and gravelly and sometimes close to his normal voice. Inconsistent like the whole film. I did think his look was miles better than the Chicklis version. The movie was a mess though and I can't even hate it. I am just indifferent. I won't buy it and I buy all the superhero movies.

The best part of this movie is definitely the reviews.

I decided to skip this one after seeing the trailers where "The Thing" sounded like squeaky-voiced teen from The Simpsons.

Unlike complete failures (Elektra, Green Lantern and the like), there's a thread in FF that could have been interesting, it just gets lost and then fades away. Maybe I'm more sympathetic to Trank because it feels like what is good about FF is his and what is bad about it is Fox/producer meddling.
The first 1/2 or so, while not brilliant, is good. It's approaching the Comic Book Movie® in a slightly different way (much like Chronicle) and the movie is better for it. The dialogue and characterization are still weak, but it's working well enough.
Introducing the team's powers as rather horrific instead of a glorious moment isn't unique, but how horrifically they're shown is new and again, different enough that it works really well. Doom as a character is awful, but his introduction is quite amazing.
But it just stops amounting to anything. The end is as bad as everyone is saying. It's the most generic and low stakes ending to a comic book movie that I can recall - and to boot, it's completely unmotivated. Doom wants to destroy the world because the movie is in the 3rd act, not because of anything that is shown. And the team comes together not because of a story arc that has them growing and coming together as a team, but because its the 3rd act and that's when it's supposed to happen.
It's a bad movie, but it's not bad through and through, nor is it purposefully bad. It just comes across as a patchwork of different voices - and some are good, some are bad and worse, some are lazy.

So here's the thing: I hate the most recent Fantastic Four films, I've argued for a long time that Reed Richards and Susan Storm are two of the most useless comic characters, and I pretty much think Josh Trank is the new Troy Duffy. Still, I went to see just how bad this reboot of the series was. Much to my shock, it was a flawed, but fascinating sci-fi film. It was shocking in its extreme violence at some points (there are at least half a dozen, graphic head explosions) and tremendously unbalanced from a narrative stand-point (70% first act, 10%, second, and 20% third). It doesn't do the source material much justice, but it was far from the worst comic book movie ever. Definitely worth checking out at some point.
