I thought 5 was a slight step down in quality but I still enjoyed the hell out of it. I say bring on part 6!

I kinda love how this franchise has kinda turned into Fast and Furious with all of the crazy shit they do. They should find a way to do a crossover. Cruise vs Diesel in The Fast and the Impossible.

re: Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018, D: McQuarrie) S: Tom Cruise

Following London and Vienna, Tom Cruise may film his next Mission: Impossible in Paris.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that producers for the next installment of Ethan Hunt’s adventures are in talks to shoot part of the next film in Paris.

After several delays attributed to a pay dispute, filming is set to start in spring. Sources told THR that current talks see shooting coming to Paris in spring or early summer.

A representative for Paramount would not confirm anything at this time as talks are still ongoing.

Christopher McQuarrie, who directed Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, wrote and will direct the new installment, M:i 6.

Production on the latest film in the 20-year-old franchise was put on hold due to Cruise’s salary dispute with Paramount, but a deal was closed in September.

The film is set to hit theaters on July 27, 2018.

I don't think I've ever cared where these take place. They all have basically the same gist. Each with its own unique action set pieces. Thrilling in spots and repetitive in others. Besides, I thought The Mummy was M:I 6?

Unless Cruise free falls from where space meets the Earths atmosphere, I don't know how the stunts of 5 will be topped.

At a certain point they need to realize that trying to top the last movie's stunts isn't what makes the Mission: Impossible movies great. As we saw with the last one it's becoming nothing more than a marketing tool anyway.

If they continue trying to out do the last film's stunts it really will be Cruise just strapping himself to the outside of a rocket and blasting himself into space.

‘The Crown’ Star Vanessa Kirby Lands Lead Role in ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ (EXCLUSIVE)

“The Crown” actress Vanessa Kirby is final talks for one of the new leads in Paramount and Skydance’s next installment in the “Mission: Impossible” film franchise starring Tom Cruise.

Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner are also expected to return, though it’s unknown in what capacity.

Details behind who Kirby will play as well as the plot for the latest pic are unknown at this time. The role is expected to be on the same level as Ferguson’s in the last pic. Cruise and execs had begun meeting with talent for the role earlier in month as the film is expected to shoot this spring.

As Superman!! He'd actually probably do better in this series than the other one. Or another Man from Uncle.

re: Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018, D: McQuarrie) S: Tom Cruise

Collider was recently able to speak with Skydance Media CEO David Ellison, who told them that filming on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 will kick off on April 10, 2017 in Paris, London and New Zealand. As for the stunts, Ellison says that they will "top anything that's come before."

We’re thrilled. Chris is back, obviously, writing and directing after Rogue Nation. We could not be more excited about the character Henry Cavill’s going to play. And I will say after the Burj [Khalifa] we thought it was going to be impossible to top that stunt, and then Tom did the A380 for the plane. What Tom is doing in this movie I believe will top anything that’s come before. It is absolutely unbelievable—he’s been training for a year. It is going to be, I believe, the most impressive and unbelievable thing that Tom Cruise has done in a movie, and he has been working on it since right after Rogue Nation came out. It’s gonna be mind-blowing.

Yay I guess. But the Burj Khalifa sequence in MI4 and the airplane and underwater sequences in MI5 all seem like they were done on a green screen. Not to mention the heavy editing so we can't get a really good look at him in these scenes makes it seem like they were CGI generated and not real.

They didn't look like green screen and looked pretty damn good to me

To be fair, the Burj Khalifa sequence looked spectacular in IMAX. That looked and felt real, but watching it at home kind of takes that level of awesomeness away and begins to look CGI'd, mostly because of the background, even on a 65". The hanging on the airplane was great, but so damn fast. And the underwater one just looked CGI to me. I know it was real, and he can hold his breath for 10+ minutes or whatever it is.

Yeah, I know what you meant but I just disagree. Neither scene looks CGI to me, even at home on blu-ray.

re: Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018, D: McQuarrie) S: Tom Cruise

Few franchises have lasted as long as the Mission: Impossible franchise, but over 20 years after Tom Cruise led the first cinematic outing based on the 1960s TV series, the series is still going strong, with the sixth movie beginning production soon. While Mission: Impossible 6 hasn't released any official plot details to the public yet, the blockbuster has slowly been recruiting actors to this latest adventure, and now all of the main cast has finally been officially announced.

Our own Eric Eisenberg was on hand at CinemaCon when the Mission: Impossible 6 presentation announced that a lot of familiar folks would be co-starring alongside Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt come next year. Among the returning faces in the sixth installment will be Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust, Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell (who is the only other actor besides Cruise to appear in all of these movies), Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Alec Baldwin as Alan Hunley and Sean Harris as Solomon Lane. With the exception of Lane, all of these individuals are Ethan's allies in one way or another, so bringing them back makes sense. As for Mr. Lane, the former head of The Syndicate, he was last seen in Rogue Nation being taken into IMF custody, so it will be interesting to see how he is involved in the sixth movie, be it as an antagonist again (the likelier possibility) or being coerced into assisting the main agents.

One notable absentee from the group is Jeremy Renner, who played William Brandt in Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation. No reason was given for why Renner will not be part of the Mission: Impossible 6 cast, but since he is currently wielding the bow and arrow again as Hawkeye in the back-to-back Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 shoot, one can surmise that his Marvel duties got in the way. Assuming that Renner isn't able to sneak away to secretly cameo in Mission: Impossible 6, hopefully the movie will address what happened to Brandt, whether he was killed in the line of duty, transferred elsewhere or some other reason.

As for the new faces, Henry Cavill, Sian Brooke and Vanessa Kirby are all coming aboard, although their characters haven't been identified yet. Along with casting information, it was also mentioned that Mission: Impossible 6 shooting will take place in London, Paris, India and New Zealand. They will also shoot in IMAX 3D, which is fitting for a movie that contains so much action and thrills, and will certain make the crazy sequence Tom Cruise has been practicing for over a year look even more insane.

Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible 6 hits theaters on July 27, 2018.

So Solomon Lane is coming back, which means this is a sequel story from the last movie. Works for me, and I thought he was a fairly decent bad guy.

Watching the making of the Burj Khalifa made me uneasy. And I thought it felt dangerous in the movie too. We don't get those kind of stunts too often anymore.

I like the idea of keeping the Syndicate alive. The group was an ongoing thorn in the MI teams side in the original series and i actually loved the way they were used in the last movie. That opening scene in he record store was great.
