The trailer had me up until they showed horses riding into battle, on top of a Star Destroyer, in space.

Nothing feels new to me, other than all of these same storylines from ROTJ will take place in new settings that are bigger in scope (that look cool cause its new).

Yep. Look for a Kylo act of redemption late in the film that saves Rey and defeats Palpatine, while Lando and the gang take on that Star Destroyer.

Some cool visuals and the score is nice. Those are my main take aways from the trailer. There’s not a lot there to really get me excited as there’s really no hints at the plot or anything.

Very much looked like Endor. Though knowing the originality of the sequels it’ll probably be another forest type planet with a different name..

The Death Star II fragments were sitting in the water. I would assume it's Endor.

I was half joking. I expect it to be Endor, but you never know.

That’s a cool poster. I would hope Disney movie rewards has it available.

My takeaway as well.

I don’t care much for the poster either. Too much saber.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)

The site for the independent Atmos theater in town kept crashing so I gave up and just went for IMAX 2-D at the nearby Regal. Fandango crashed a couple times as well, but I finally ended up with seats for 7 pm Friday.

Now I’ll exit the thread while people continue to complain about the previous movies.

Meh. They already had a ship dropping bombs in space. Maybe they’re all wearing invisible space helmets.

Got IMAX 3D tix right after they went on sale... great seats. Much easier to get tickets for this than Endgame.

I agree.

The first trailer for Rise of Skywalker actually got me hyped up to see it. The second trailer connected it to the prequels which kind of ruined it for me. This third trailer looked a lot slicker at times, like the blue and white corridor they're battling through. But on the other hand Rey running in some generic forest (Endor?) and doing Tomb Raider jumps was just "meh." The CGI star ships look much better than the prequels, but it looks once again like way too much on screen. 3-PO having a sad last moment with his friends? Was he even that close to the new cast? That sounds like something he would tell Luke and them, but we only get a wink between those two in the last film.

I'm not convinced they're in space. I think they're in the upper atmosphere of a planet.

The mods should give this thread a couple days and then lock it until a couple days before it opens.

I'm already groaning over all the "ROTJ remake" posts I'm seeing - this film looks NOTHING like ROTJ. If anything, TLJ was more like ROTJ.

Good trailer, IMO. I didn't care for the horses but the scale of the ships was cool (as we typically only get them in space) and 3PO's line kinda hit my heart-strings

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)

Something to think about with this trailer, from Forbes:

The New ‘Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker’ Trailer Is Not For You

The third and final trailer to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is premiering tonight during an ABC football game for the same reason Disney tends to drop its family-friendly trailers during Good Morning America. The success of Lord of the Rings, The Dark Knight, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Force Awakens is explicitly linked to getting the non-fans to be almost as excited or interested as the fans. The goal will be to convince football fans and general audiences that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the one movie to see this Christmas if you only see one movie. That is of ever-increasing importance since it’s entirely possible that an increasing number of moviegoers will indeed see only one movie this holiday season.

This final Rise of Skywalker trailer will be aimed already excited or curious Star Wars fan, but at folks who will get their first real look at the ninth Star Wars episode during the halftime portion of the football game
Meanwhile, I thought it was a good trailer. C-3PO's line and the tagline of "The saga will end, the story lives forever" got me

That scene of Ren walking out of the water could have been badass if he had the helmet on - instead it's Adam Driver pouting. The hell?

I am not even sure that is in space. Could be atop a crashed destroyer.
