re: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)
It's real. The black woman with the cape (Naomi Ackie?) was in the location photos with Finn and Poe and they're all wearing the same costumes. I assume the female with the helmet is Kerri Russell's character.
I agree, seeing Threepio wearing Chewie's bandoleer and holding his crossbow is kind of bizarre -- but not as bizarre and that sea monkey looking creature next to Finn. That thing is giving me Jar Jar flashbacks.

i would think its all hand on deck since they were the remaining fighters. who knows

If that was fan art, then that’s an odd thing to include, since it seems like a big “tell.”
Then again, maybe that’s the fan artist wants us to think...
...and it’s a circular argument.
I do seem to recall someone — possibly Anthony Daniels himself —saying C-3PO would have a larger part in IX.
Also, if this is real, those reports of Kylo gluing his helmet back together with red goo were accurate.

I like Rey's TLJ hair infinitely better. Never was a fan of the 3-bun.

Wouldn't surprise me if that poster is real as there were leaked pictures a while back on a forum I go to for collectibles/figures and I remember those costumes for Finn and Poe.

I think that poster is just early concept art that just leaked. Definitely not the final artwork.
But, it's just a poster, not the movie. So no big deal IMO. It's nothing to lose your mind or get worked up about.

So Rey just had to get a new Maglite tube for that saber crystal?
In that case, I'd like to think that Anakin did the same with the saber that got chopped in AOTC... so it'd really be the same crystal.

MakingStarWars obtained a character sheet that reveals some new names: Jannah and Zorii:
First look at old Lando:
Rey needs a new stylist. Her costumes have basically been the same, just changing from tan to grey and now white:

What's BB-8 got going on in the that poster? A hair dryer?
Obviously fake. How can Chewy and 3P0 have the bandoleer on at the same time?

Spoiler:
I guess that would go in the same category as all the other complaints levvied against the ST that has a direct analogous counterpart in the OT.

I think it might be a design for box art for toys. It seems similar in style to toybox art that leaks early for Solo:
That could also explain the more general "Star Wars" logo at the bottom.
i feel like this can cut both ways. If the costumes and new characters were known before the new art was released, then a diligent fan wanting to make a convincing fake would use those designs/characters.

This poster sort of confirms my hunch that the OT characters will all have very small roles (including Luke). The one thing I will give Disney is that their marketing has been on par with each movie as there has been no deception. Luke was not in any marketing in TFA, and that jived with him being in only 30 seconds. He was a big part of the marketing and the poster for TLJ, and played a major role in that movie. They also had Luke saying things in the trailers like, "This is not going to go how you think!" and "The Jedi....need to end!" so they were definetly setting fans up for a different Luke. I think the fans going into Episode 9 expecting any OT characters playing a prominent role will be disappointed, so the new characters have to really sell this movie. There is only so much old footage of Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams is 81 years old so he will probably just fly the falcon, and it wouldn't make sense if Force Ghost Luke had this big role after his arc in TLJ.

Recycling the ANH outfit at the end of ESB made sense with the heroes being on the run. Leia just put on whatever was stashed on the Falcon (like Lando wearing Han's duds). I get Rey is poor and not galactic royalty, but (other than the vest) you could tweak the colors in photoshop and I'd have trouble spotting a difference in her costumes from one movie to the next. While not flashy, even the dudes have more distinctive looks -- so it seems odd Michael Kaplan didn't change it up for the sake of variety. But hey, at least all the female cosplayers out there will only need a bottle of bleach to update their Rey costumes for Episode IX.

The way the characters look are really the least of my concerns with this film. I think Rey has had decent looks throughout both films so far. I will say Poe looks really generic though if what he’s wearing on that poster is real, but it’s kind of whatever.

Really? Other than being the color white, at least Leia's ANH and ESB costumes are different looks... and those last two (Bespin gown and Ewok village) aren't really similar at all.
