Noir isn't necessarily an aesthetic, unless they're being deliberately retro, like Burton was.

I agree with the spirit of what you're saying, but I think I would describe it this way: there is a visual aesthetic connected to noir, but it doesn't necessarily have to be tied to a particular era.

Eh I mean the Nolan films incorporated some detective elements, but they weren’t really overly reliant on that aspect of his character. Batman has had his share of action in all the films. For being the World’s Greatest Detective we’ve seen a lot less of that element of his character.

Rumors about who will replace Ben Affleck in Matt Reeves' The Batman have been swirling since his departure from the role was confirmed two weeks ago. Hmmmmmm. If they're doing a Year One Batman, he would be cool in that role.

If you want to look at his filmography the last few years then you'll see that he's done a bunch of good to great films:

Cosmopolis
The Rover
Map to the Stars
Queen of the Desert
Life
Lost City of z
Good Time


On that alone, he deserves a shot. Fuck it, why not.
