Re: The Batman (D: Ben Affleck)
It's not the full story but there's definitely a lot of influence from that story in Batman V Superman. The fight with Superman is the second part of that story where the first part is Batman returning to fight a new group of villains known as The Mutants. He also has a run in with The Joker and Two Face makes an appearance. I doubt they'll go with The Mutants storyline and the rest of what happens isn't enough for a full film really.

It isn't DKR, but I think it's enough of DKR that you can't do DKR on screen anytime soon, especially not with Affleck.

I don't think you could do DKR without it literally being a period film to provide the aspect of the world. It's insanely connected to the tissue of that era. It actually makes more sense to put it into that period than out.
They could still do DKR. But they couldn't hit its big bulletpoints to make any sense based off the world of the modern. It was always an alternate world anyway.

Oh well. It was just a thought. Would be great to see a female Robin (Carrie Kelly) too. Just surprised I don't hear about any talk of making that amazing story into a live action movie.

I don't think it'd be hard to do. The casting would be insanely much more important due to the age of characters and whatnot.
Though... I do think that WB (or even Marvel) wouldn't want to play in making stories set in an alternate reality aside from the current continuity/line they're wanting to build their property into.
Aside from possibly confusing the dumbfucks of the general moviegoer.

CinemaCon 2016: Studio chairman Kevin Tsujihara confirmes longstanding rumors about the Oscar-winning filmmaker
Ben Affleck will direct a solo Batman movie, Warner Bros. Entertainment chairman Kevin Tsujihara announced Tuesday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
After crediting the directors of other upcoming DC Comics movies, Zack Snyder (“The Justice League”) and Patty Jenkins (“Wonder Woman”), Tsujihara said, “I’m also excited we’ll be working with filmmakers like Ben Affleck in a standalone ‘Batman.'”
The studio boss appeared to confirm reports that had been swirling for weeks, particularly since the phenomenal success of the Oscar winner’s turn as the caped crusader in last month’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
Tsujihara offered no other details about the project, like where it might fall into an already crowded slate of DC Comics-based movies.

Affleck and “Batman v Superman” co-star Amy Adams soon took the stage at Caesars Palace to share what we can expect from the studio’s upcoming DC Comics canon, including an extended preview of this summer’s supervillain mash-up “Suicide Squad.”
The actor won high praise for his first outing as Bruce Wayne and his dark alter ego in Snyder’s “Batman v Superman,” which has earned $297 million in its first three weeks at the domestic box office.
Affleck is set to reprise his role as Batman in “Suicide Squad” as well as Snyder’s two-part “The Justice League.”

Affleck:
-only Batman to play Batman for 2 different directors (3 after his standalone).
-only Batman to play Batman in 2 movies in the same year.
-only Batman to play both Batman and Superman.

Affleck's 3/3 as a director, not to mention an Oscar winning one. I think he'll do a great job both behind and in front of the camera. I didn't care for BvS, but he was good in it, and I think he'll be even better in his own joint.

Jesus what a tired joke. Honestly, I thought it was fine that they did it in BvS (and IMO the best interpretation).

Affleck is, so far, doing quite well with directing. I hope he can pick up a few more jobs within the movie, so that credits just have his name over and over again.

And the BvS was not a good interpretation because it showed the dad lunging at the assailant, almost making him complicit - a case could be made that he was partially responsible since he tried to fight back. It should be that they were shot dead even though they fully complied.

That's the point - to make the joke as tired as showing an origin again and again and again and...

But don't get caught up in facts, carry on.

Kane's Batman also killed people, but the character has moved on and progressed since then.
Same reason why your example is dumb - since improvements were made, going back is regressive (not that Snyder was basing it on that anyhow).

Re: The Batman (D: Ben Affleck)
If they do a prequel I wonder how far they'd go back. Affleck can pass for a bit younger but not much and we've gotten some parts of his character filled in with what he was doing between the events of Man of Steel and when he meets Superman already in Batman V Superman so I'd think a sequel would make more sense.
