Nice joke. I'm talking about the actor. So I guess it won't ever be discussed again, and we'll have to talk about actors only for the perspective thread they are starring in and NEVER talk about their past works. Good luck to that Groucho.

I mean, you aren't wrong.
Even though Ben Affleck now has (more) Oscar hardware, he's oftentimes still seen as the meh actor from the 2000s who starred in what's often cited as the worst movie ever made, Gigli. Hell, he has a Razzie for being the "Worst Actor of the Decade". Thing is, it clearly didn't stop his career, and it didn't stop his Batman from being one of the better elements in Dawn of Justice. The things coexist with one another: he's both an Academy Award-winning filmmaker and that questionable actor from last decade, and he made for a pretty decent version of the Caped Crusader.
Pattinson shouldn't be any different, so long as he's able to continue doing it right.

Yeah, but Affleck basically started out with an Oscar win. I honestly hope Pattinson can pull this so he can be seen as a true character actor. I think that would be the perfect way to put aside any notion of...well.... THAT role that Groucho seems to not be a fan of.

I think so. It's the first Pattinson performance where I was like, damn, this kid is a good actor! It's a very subversive film. It also has plenty of quotable lines.

Eh, why not. As others have said, I just don’t see him as Bruce. He just has that sad sack face. I just picture him with his hands stuffed in his pockets kicking rocks.
I was too young to hate the Keaton casting. I liked Bale in the role until his old Clint Eastwood voice got too distracting.
DC manages to bungle almost everything (film wise), so I’ll keep my expectations low and hold out hope for good interpretations of the villains. Which is really the most important part anyway.

I will miss the bruiser of a Batman we got with Affleck. Affleck was the perfect Batman that came along for the wrong set of movies. I REALLY wish we got a solo Batfleck movie directed by him, before all of the forced Justice League and BvS stuff. I feel like we really missed out on what could have been the best comic accurate Bat-movie.
That said, I'm totally receptive to this Pattinson casting. Never in a million years who I would have picked (he seems a bit slight to me -- even though he's taller than I realized),but I'm optimistic. And I think just going by his roles of late, this will certainly be a take on Batman which I'm down for. Pattinson's charisma on paper feels like one that is more akin to who you might cast as a Joker, but I'm intrigued to see how this turns out.

I’ll agree Gadot, Cavill, Affleck and Levi are solid choices. I’ve yet to see Aquaman, but I hated the character in JL. I think the Flash was miscast as well.

It's funny how different the Batmans have been. Bale was the perfect playboy, but not the most convincing behind the mask. Affleck was completely believable as Batman behind the mask, but not so much the playboy. I've liked both of them and their different takes. I'll be interested to see how Pattinson's take on it will be. Nevertheless, Batman is my all time favorite character, so my ass would be in the seat for pretty much anyone they hire.

I thought Bale was best as both so far. My main complaint with his Batman is his voice. I get that he was trying to disguise it and differentiate how he sounded as Bruce, but there are a lot of times where he sounds silly. Overall he looked good in the suit and cowl though. Everyone else has played one part or the other well. Keaton was a pretty close second as being good at both Bruce and Batman.

I do hope they carry over some version of the voice changer (or w/e it was called) from BvS.
