I just saw this pic and all the positive responses...I came to dvdtalk and it's a bit negative . Fuckin' aye!! The hate here gives me life!! lol! Do you guys even enjoy and have fun watching films anymore? Do you post your "Hate this" posts here behind the keyboard then enjoy those same films in real life? I hope so.

I'm not interested in any of that shit. There's so much potential in the SW universe, and they keep mining the OT for more and more 'Member Berries. Starting to get a little tired of it. Nostalgia is the mind killer.

Yes, but not just that, like they did with Indy 3, you know they're going to hit all his defining characteristics, like winning the Falcon from Lando, why he's so cynical, why Chewie owes him, heck, they'll probably get into the origin of his vest too.

Instead of a good story unfolding in an organic fashion, this movie is likely to repeat beats from the first movies while ham-handedly moving from one Han characteristic(Falcon, Chewie, Lando) to the next. It's possible that this movie won't feel forced, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

1. That pic is fine. I'm sure you can't tell who Han after everyone is in costume.
2. Miller and Lord? Neat.
3. The Force Awakes was alright. And Rogue One was excellent.
4. Opening up the whole universe and letting the directors put a little stamp on each film is awesome. I expect this to be 80% Star Wars and 20% Miller-Lord.

Disney CEO Bob Iger shed a little more light on the upcoming young Han Solo movie at a USC event Thursday, providing details about the “Star Wars” universe film centered around the pilot iconically played by Harrison Ford.
In an interview with USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism Dean Willow Bay — also Iger’s wife — in Santa Monica, he said the still-untitled film, scheduled for release on May 25, 2018, will cover Solo’s life from the ages of 18 to 24 and show him finding the Millennium Falcon, meeting Chewbacca and obtaining his name.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing the movie, which stars Alden Ehrenreich as the title character. The film also features “Atlanta” star Donald Glover, who plays Lando Calrissian, “Game of Thrones'” Emilia Clarke, “Westworld’s” Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, Joonas Suotamo and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Iger also said that this year’s “Star Wars” film, “The Last Jedi,” will not be changed on account of the death of Carrie Fisher, who played Princess-turned-General Leia Organa in the movie franchise. He added that Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker, will have a substantial speaking role in the film.
Earlier Thursday, Iger agreed to a one-year extension to his contract as Disney’s chairman and CEO, which will extend his term to July 2, 2019

I've been behind Disney so far with how they've handled properties like Marvel and Star Wars but this film is just feeling really iffy to me. Not really sure why it needs to exist other than to make money.

I think this will turn out to be a great movie. I like the casting so far, other than Emilia Clarke who imhas so far been terrible in everything she has appeared. For me she is the weak link in Game of Thrones, surrounded by people who can actually act.
