The only reason I can think of Jurassic World doing better then Terminator is there are more kids that will go see a movie about dinosaurs. I know my nephews saw Jurassic World but didn't see Terminator. They are teenagers and I don't even think they have seen any of the Terminator movies, but they saw Jurassic Park before.
I still go by any 70's/80's franchise (with the exception of Star Wars) is just not going to resonate with Millenials. Jurassic Park came out in 1993, so it was really the first Big Blockbuster that appealed to that generation (as they were still kids) where T2 in 1991 was Rated R and last appealed to Gen X-ers like myself who were in Highschool.

Pretty crazy that three films this year made it to the top 10 all-time worldwide no.
4. Furious 7
5. Avengers: AoU (Jurassic World will overtake soon)
6. Jurassic World

Not really in this day and age. Tickets sold maybe but not the dollars. Should be expected. Couple more 2015 releases may have a Top 10 shot as well.

I expect Star Wars to be there.
Maybe Hunger Games 4 & who knows what Ant Man will do. Nobody expected Guardians to be huge.

Apparently DVDTalk does. But then we also have users questioning why a movie about Dinosaurs is more popular than one about a time traveling robot. But what do I know, I didn't think the first Avengers was going to be as huge as it was either (totally expected it for Guardians though).

LOL. I think Ash made the comment because Ant Man's powers are the reverse of getting huge.
So, Ant Man's BO will be tiny.

It won't be tiny, but people seem to have crazy expectations for it now.

Resinrat, tracking for Ant-Man is in the 55 - 65m range, which may be a realistic prediction, given the WOM from advance screenings is good. I genuinely believe that Disney/Marvel will be thrilled if Ant-Man actually hits 60m or more on its opening weekend.

I really don't know why Jurassic World did SOOOOOOO much better than Terminator Genisys. Both are sequels to beloved franchises that are over 20 years old. Both are direct sequels to a previous installment that was absolute SHIT. Both franchises have been dormant for sometime. Both trailers were nothing special. I don't get it.
Is it because of Chris Pratt? Thats honestly the best I can come up with.

2) A fantastic marketing job by Universal for JW. Great trailers that highlighted that the park was finally open, after 20+ years of waiting. Paramount's trailers for T:G were just eh.
3) It's been 14 years since JP3, so any bad memories of that mess have been largely forgotten. T:Salvation was just 6 years ago.
4) J:W had a better release date. T:G chose the July 4 weekend where July 4 actually fell on a Saturday, which severely hampered grosses that day.
5) J:W had much better reviews. 71% vs 27% for T:G.
6) Chris Pratt. One of Hollywood's hottest stars vs. a dinosaur (heh) from the 80s? No contest.

See I have the opposite opinion about the trailers, they actually tempered my interest in the movie.

Universal just passed $3 billion worldwide for the year, fastest in history for any studio and first time for Universal. Their next movie, Minions, opens this week. They also have Trainwreck, Straight Outta Compton, Everest, Steve Jobs, By The Sea, Crimson Peak, etc; before the years end.

I think that says more about this year than it does those movies. In ten years people will wonder how those movies made so much money.
