Research help - Unrated movie advertising '70s/'80s

I need some help for a post I'm writing for my cult movie blog.

There was a movie in the late '70s / early 1980's that got into trouble because the distributor created their own movie rating "logo box" even though the film was being released unrated.

So instead of the usual MPAA letter logo which you see advertised at the bottom of ads, like this:

They made up a letter rating, UR, along with art for it which looked a lot like the trademark protected MPAA box. The MPAA brought a lawsuit against the distributor and won.

I thought the flick was DAWN OF THE DEAD, but I've researched the original newspaper ads and it didn't copy the MPAA logo style.

Anyone remember which flick did this?

I know Caligula created some sort of MA rating for them to use themselves, but I don't think that ever showed up on any print material.

I seem to remember something like this with one of Fulci's films. The Beyond maybe?

Are you sure it isn't Mark of the Devil, which was self-rated "V for Violence"?

Thanks for the suggestions!

I don't think it could have been 7 Doors of Death/The Beyond or Mark of the Devil, as I don't remember the theatrical release of either. Still, I'll research both.

It could be Caligula, as I remember that REALLY well.

Before I retreat back to the library, any other ideas?
