Wonder if Junkie XL will turn in another great score? Hard to believe that into his 70s, Miller is still so brilliantly ferocious.

Nnnhh.
Not sure I believe it. The better news there is the cancellation of WWZ2 ... maybe we can get a proper mini-series now.

Are there are two “Fury Road” sequels in the works?
There are two stories, both involving Mad Max, and also a Furiosa story. We’re still solving, we’ve got to play out the Warners thing, it seems to be pretty clear that it’s going to happen.
How did you get into this legal wrangle with Warner Bros. over “Fury Road”?
It all started because of the chaos at Warner Bros. and not Kevin Tsujihara, it was pre all that. He wasn’t the antagonist, because a lot of people didn’t know what was going on and were not prepared to make a definitive stand; everybody was running around fearful, it seems, through three regimes. It was hard to get anyone’s attention, so we went to litigation. The chaos has stabilized and it’s become extremely positive as the dust seems to have settled after [the AT&T merger].

George Miller:
https://deadline.com/2019/12/george-...ew-1202802441/
“I’m not done with the Mad Max story and I think you have to be a multi-tasker and there’s certainly another Mad Max coming down the pike after this,” he said. “We’re in preparation on that as well. It’s an interesting question, the idea of multi-tasking. I discuss this with other filmmakers and I think what happens to me is that when you’re working on one thing, and you get so distracted and focused on that one thing, it’s like a creative holiday to focus on the other one for a bit. It helps you achieve that objectivity, to look at the thing afresh each time and say, I thought I was doing this, but it doesn’t seem to be the case now.

It's fine, he's only 74, basically a child by Clint Eastwood standards. He should be putting out his Mystic River any day now.

EXCLUSIVE: GEORGE MILLER’S NEXT ‘MAD MAX’ MOVIE A GO TO FILM IN AUSTRALIA THIS FALL
https://thegww.com/exclusive-george-...lia-this-fall/
Exclusive: With the legal issues out of the way, writer-director George Miller is ready to return to the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max!
Back in December, Miller confirmed that a new ‘Mad Max’ movie was in the works, but I’ve learned he’s officially been given the green light to film the new pic in Australia sometime in the late Fall. Tom Hardy’s return as the titular character has yet to be confirmed.
Before pre-production officially begins on the film, Miller will direct ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing,’ starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton, starting this March.
‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is the most recent entry in the franchise, but, despite its rave reviews and solid box office return, legal disputes between Miller and Warner Bros. prevented a new film from happening. Tom Hardy, taking over the role of Max from Mel Gibson, and Charlize Theron starred in the sequel.
There is currently no release window yet, or plot details.

^
And thanks to the recent fires I bet they could save millions on set design since it already looks like a post-apocalyptic “Wasteland”.

I was wondering about the status of this project and hit up Google. Still not much info out there. According to IMDB, this is to be another prequel that will also feature Chris Hemsworth. Supposedly set a year before Mad Max: Fury Road.
It seems The Mary Sue concurs. Of course all that is from back in October. I wonder if we'll get any sort of update during, or shortly after, the release of Furiosa.
It will be set about a year before the opening scene of Fury Road. Since Fury Road was delayed so long it gave George Miller and his crew time to write two back stories for Max and Furiosa. The Wasteland is centred on Max and will be incredibly bleak according to Mark Sexton. Max will have his V8 Interceptor. Furiosa will not make an appearance in this film but Max will make an appearance in the planned Furiosa prequel/sequel movie. As of summer 2019 filming has not started nor has any future date been planned.
