Sarah Silverman is joining the cast of Universal’s untitled Lonely Island movie.

Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, who comprise the group, are starring in the feature, which began production this week.

The project takes aim at the fluffy music documentaries of recent years such as Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never and Katy Perry’s Part of Me. It centers on a rapper (Samberg) whose latest album bombs and he must do the unthinkable: a reunion concert with his former boy band.

Silverman will play the rapper’s sharp and sarcastic publicist who has to suffer many indignities.

The move puts Silverman back in the comedy world after her most recent film project, I Smile Back, a drama that premiered at Sundance and for which she earned strong reviews.

Judd Apatow is producing via his Judd Apatow Productions banner. Samberg, Schaffer and Taccone are also producing. Schaffer and Taccone are directing.

Universal’s senior vp production Erik Baiers is overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.

Silverman, whose other credits include A Million Ways to Die in the West and Ashby, is repped by UTA, Thruline and Ziffren Brittenham.

Universal has finally revealed the title of the first movie from The Lonely Island crew, and it's as yolo as some of their song titles.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping will tell the behind-the-scenes story of rapper Conner4Real (Andy Samberg), who is struggling to maintain his popularity after his "difficult second album" tanks and he manfully tries to remain relevant by reuniting with his former boy band.

Co-starring Sarah Silverman, Tim Meadows and Maya Rudolph, Popstar was written by Samberg and his Lonely Island bandmates Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer. Taccone and Schaffer will co-direct, with Judd Apatow and Rodney Rothman producing.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping will hit theaters on June 3.
