I saw it last Saturday, and loved it quite a bit. The action really is insane and over the top. I only have two minor complaints. The movie drags somewhat in the middle, and the slightly feminist spin in a guys movie kind of bothers me. Charlize Theoren's character makes up more of the story than Max's. But still the movie deserves all the praise and I hope its a huge hit. I want to see more risk taikng summer movie's in the future. 4 out of 5. I will be seeing it several times.

Newsflash: Action movies are not for men alone.
<hr>
This is the movie of the year (so far) for me, and the most fun I've had in an action movie in a long time. Everything is thoughtfully, skillfully put together. The set pieces are nicely varied even when the entire film is essentially a car chase. I've never seen the originals so I'm new to this franchise, but I think this is going to be the surprise hit of the summer and WB is going to greenlight sequels within the week.
The first can't-miss of the year. Highest possible recommendation.

"The creator of the original Mad Max trilogy has whipped up a gargantuan grunge symphony of vehicular mayhem that makes Furious 7 look like Curious George."

I don't disagree with that statement.
I would also recommend to avoid any reviews as there could be some cool moments spoiled for you.

Besides, the most beloved movie in the series, Mad Max 2, doesn't really focus on Max in regards to the main plot. Yes, he's the character we follow as an audience but ultimately the main plot wasn't about him, despite the narration from the boy.

I was never wowed by the trailers, but the 98% rating on RT has definitely convinced me to see this opening weekend. Hope it lives up to the hype.

I think this site, and most of culture, has a really bad definition for what feminism is. By standard definition, Feminism is pretty awesome.
Unfortunately we tend to look at the extremes over the norms.
Speaking in a general form...
Action movies aren't totally for men anymore. YES, they've been catered towards men cuz it's a male dominated society but at some point.. the female gender had to jump in teh bandwagon with what was given and roll w/ it. IE... girls ended up liking action movies over time. Look at the Fast and Furious films. Women enjoy those too. A lot of women love Kill Bill too. Mad Max has never been obsessed w/ catering to men. Yes, it attracts men more cuz of the genre types but... it isn't so skewed towards men like say... The Expendables. It's also not wrong having a great female character be the moving force for a male character's franchise. It's just another form of telling a story. Not that new. The female audience has grown bigger in being a very important factor for big studio films.

I don't really care, as I'm effin' stoked to see this thing, but is there any sort of plot development at all? I haven't seen a review that says anything other than it's a balls-out car chase.

Chris Stuckman said in his review that it's a milestone in action movies much like Raiders, Die Hard, T2: Judgement Day, Matrix and TDK.
Gonna be seeing it with my dad this weekend.

I have said many, many times on this forum that I don't care what a review says and don't let it influence me when going to the theater. If I want to see something I do. Praise or panned.
I have been pretty disinterested in this movie; expected it to underperform; didn't like the trailers; upset that I don't know where it fits in the Mad Max realm; stated that in the other thread and got several upset.
BUT...

this review has me rethinking all of that. I am going to have to check this out. I have to admit my thinking on this has been misguided.

I know he doesn't count much these days (never did) but Roeper (he's doing written reviews now) gave it an A+ and proclaims it's one of the best action movies ever.
His review seems to have more spoilers than the others, I'd avoid it.

He might be a piece of shit or something along those lines of a person but when I look at his work, I pay attention to the work. The work and the man are two different things. Though it can be bridged in many ways. I've never personally been a Gibson fan. Much like Cruise, he's been in work that's attracted me but not because he's in it. He's just a part of the equation for me.

I'm hoping it does be first. This film may be something that changes the landscape for how things are done and I want that badly.
Realistically though... 2nd or 3rd is what I see.

I'm seeing this doing a Kingsmen repeat (Staying in the top 5 for weeks to come, but never reaching #1)
But how often does an R-rated apocalyptic, action movie receive this much praise? I really hope the buzz and curiosity gets bigger than we all think and this storms into #1.
