Well, when I see shit liked this:
Warner Bros responded with a short statement saying: "We disagree and will vigorously defend against these claims."
Makes me think otherwise.

George Miller sues Warner Bros over Mad Max: Fury Road earnings

Well, balls! I just watched this for the second time ever last night. I first saw it in the theater the night it opened. Was wondering what was going on with any possible sequel. Fuck you Warner Brothers!

... whose stellar directing career includes two Happy Feet movies and the Mad Max series ...
This still makes me chuckle in amusement.

Does Miller own the rights or something? I don’t think that’s likely. Can’t WB just get a different director? Won’t be hard to find a good, maybe younger director to take this on...

Yeah, probably should have said something like "whose illustrious career includes such films as 'The Witches of Eastwick', 'Lorenzo's Oil', 'Babe: Pig in the City", "Happy Feet" and the 'Mad Max' series". "Happy Feet" was a huge hit. The sequel, not so much. He only produced "Babe" and directed "Pig in the City". Not as well received by critics and underperformed at the box-office. Gene Siskel named it the Best Picture of 1998 (!)

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road (Miller, 2015) — The Reviews Thread

A Mad Max film without Miller loses most of its interest for me. I'm not that big of a fan of the characters but the style of Fury Road and if they're going to get someone to ape Fury Road's style Id prefer the just do it under a different name.

On Black Friday I'm hoping to grab a 55 inch 4K tv and will be picking up the black and white version of this which I've held off on forever waiting for a good sale on. 1st and 3rd or 4th film watched on the new set will be both versions

The fact that Miller has been the constant in his own franchise says otherwise. Sure the studios can get someone new and all that, but it wouldn't be the same. We're talking about 4 films in the span of almost 40 years. Miller is much closer to the material than anyone else out there.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road (Miller, 2015) — The Reviews Thread

It was unlikely a sequel was going to be made anytime soon, and Miller is 72, so yeah, sounds like he doesn't really care if a sequel is made. I’m okay with that. Fury Road was going to be almost impossible to top.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road (Miller, 2015) — The Reviews Thread

You would need Miller to be directly involved similar to how (somebody shoot me for saying this) Ridley Scott still had involvement with BR2049. (I feel dirty now. Must go shower.)

I think we have reached the point where any intellectual property can succeed without its creator ... it’s just that most of the time it isn’t done right. I don’t want to see Mad Max without Miller, but it could be done.

That said ... Neveldine and Taylor. They would need to work on their storytelling, but they have the visual style.

I don't know enough about movie finances to know or assume WB is the one being evil or greedy here.

On a related note, here's an entertaining video review of Mad Max Fury Road that also touched on both the color and B&W version

(It's also funny that despite his criticism of the movie, he admits he likes it at the end)
