Re: Orson Welles Centennial
There is an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to raise $2 million in order to complete The Other Side of the Wind, Welles' last film. I just gave them $50 and that gets you a dvd/blu of the finished film.
Let's show them some love DVDTalk: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/o...lles-last-film |

I know there's a French dvd out there that is supposed to be pretty good, but as far as I know it has never been released in the US. Considering WB's massive archive program and all of the content that's been released through those channels, I can't help but wonder if there's some other variable preventing them from releasing it.

$2,000,000 goal, eh?
I hope they get it. |
Re: Orson Welles Centennial
So TCM HD aired The Chimes at Midnight and the Janus logo ran before it. Is that anything new, or do they just have the TV rights? It was 1.78 instead of 1.66, unfortunately, and the so-called HD of TCM HD is only sort of HD.

Sorry, I just know by combing my U-Verse app. Amazes the hell out of me after years of sitting in the basement changing out VHS tapes to record. We live in an amazing time.

Re: Orson Welles Centennial
I just learned that Friday would have been Joseph Cotten's 110th birthday. Coincidentally, I spent much of the day working on a piece on his film, PORTRAIT OF JENNIE (1948) for Saturday's My Favorite Classic Film blogathon celebrating National Classic Film Day and hosted by the Classic Film & TV Café.

TCM just ran Chimes at Midnight in HD in 1.66 with the Janus logo. I suppose it's too much to hope that Criterion might be getting a hold of it?

Re: Orson Welles Centennial
Honestly... I've never heard of Janus outside of CC. They aren't part of CC?
