True, but he wasn't a Marvel Character then either.

If you want to get technical, Cap wasn't a Marvel Character in the 40's either.

A couple of my favorites that don't get a lot of love are Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk. I absolutely love those movies, and put them both in the top half of the Marvel catalog. I never get tired of watching them.

I thought it was solid. For me, there's not a wide range of quality between my favorite and least favorite of these films. There were none I really disliked.

Re: Rank the Marvel Cinematic Universe films

I've probably bitched the most w/ the Thor films.

They're just really mediocre to me. Jane Foster literally doesn't need to be in there for meat of the plot. She's such a weak character. Darcy, while nice to look at, is very pointless. They made Selvig into a joke in Thor 2. The Destroyer was not a threat to Thor at all. Malekith was a mediocre villain. The whole changing languages w/ the dark elves made no sense in the context used. etc etc.

The best thing to come out of them is Loki. After that it's a very much bit and pieces that rock in them. Not as a whole though.

I enjoy the Thor films but they feel very slight compared to Iron Man and Cap, which is really odd since Thor is literally a god. He's used to much better effect in the two Avengers movies.

Re: Rank the Marvel Cinematic Universe films

I thought the first Thor was half a really cool move and half an OK but flawed one.

The second was, in my mind, superior because it EMBRACED its fantastical origins rather than run screaming from them (e.g. the entire second act of the first film). It had some of the same flaws (the human characters, mostly) but it improved in almost every other aspect.

The Gold Standard has been, IMO, both Cap flicks, Avengers, and the original Iron Man. I was a little harder on Guardians of the Galaxy when it first came out (although I still really enjoyed it), but since I got the Blu-Ray I've been digging it even more.

Nah, like Ky-Fi I like all of the Marvel movies to one degree or another (most I like a hell of a lot). Thor: TDK is a solid, entertaining movie with a nice bit of patriotism thrown in.

The only one that I don't get excited about re-watching is Guardians of the Galaxy. I just find that one to be somewhere between OK and fairly good.

I like both Thor movies, and also find none of the MCU movies bad by any means.

That's about right for me. I might tweak it later, but that's pretty close. I'm actually a big fan of the first 19 there, and I like the last 4. I don't dislike any of them, but the last 4 there were disappointing (not as good as they should have been).

Of course, I haven't seen Black Widow yet, so I don't know what slot it will slide into on that list.

Re: Rank the Marvel Cinematic Universe films

I still haven't seen Eternals yet. Someday...

OK, let's see, updating the list. This keeps getting harder.

1. Avengers
1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
3. Captain America: The First Avenger
4. Iron Man 2
5. Iron Man
6. Captain America: Civil War
7. The Incredible Hulk
8. Spider-Man: No Way Home
9. Ant-Man
10. Black Panther
11. Avengers: Endgame
12. Avengers: Infinity War
13. Thor
14. Guardians of the Galaxy
15. Guardians of the Galaxy 3
16. Avengers: Age of Ultron
17. Spider-Man: Far From Home
18. Doctor Strange

19. Thor: Ragnarok
20. Ant-Man and the Wasp
21. Spider-Man: Homecoming
22. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
23. Shang-Chi

24. Iron Man 3
25. Thor: The Dark World
26. Black Widow
27. Black Panther 2
28. Doctor Strange 2
29. Captain Marvel
30. Ant Man 3 (Kangomania)
31. Thor Blood and Thunder

At this point I can say I'm not a fan of the bottom 4 there, and I don't own any of them. 24-27 are marginally better.

Re: Rank the Marvel Cinematic Universe films

3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
4. Iron Man
5. Guardians Of The Galaxy
6. Captain America: Civil War
7. Avengers: Endgame
8. Doctor Strange
9. Iron Man 3
10. Spider-Man: No Way Home
11. Thor: Ragnarok
12. Spider-Man: Homecoming
13. Avengers: Age Of Ultron
14. The Incredible Hulk
15. Ant-Man
16. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
17. Black Panther
18. Captain America: The First Avenger
19. Iron Man 2
20. Thor
21. Ant-Man and the Wasp
22. Thor: The Dark World
23. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
24. Spider-Man: Far From Home
25. Captain Marvel
26. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
27. Black Widow
28. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania
29. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
30. Thor: Love and Thunder
31. Eternals

Phase 4 and was big disappointment to me. Most movies were just OK. No Way Home was the only one I really liked and the movie lives of nostalgia. Eternals, Love and Thunder and Wakanda Forever were actually pretty bad. Up to endgame I've watched every MCU movie in the theater. After Endgame I've only watched No Way Home, Doctor Strange 2 and Thor 4 in the theater, but I plan to watch Guardians 3 next week.

This is my post from 9 years ago. It’s still accurate despite having half the MCU released after my post. Considering the Marvel movies are just getting worse, I’m not expecting any new favorites to come along. I haven’t even bothered to watch the latest Ant-Man movie or GotG 3.
