I like the last couple trailers explaining what the movie actually is about though.I need to get around to reading the book, I bought it a year ago on Kindle and never actually read it.

My wife read this book on audio at least half a dozen times last year, she loves it. Not excited about the movie. She is sure they'll screw it up. I told her, well, get a sitter or she can stay home opening night with the kids while I go see it with Movie Pass. Her call! We'll see what she decides...

No offense to her, but it's not like the book is some holy grail of literature. Plus, you could not have gotten a better director for the source material. Spielberg fits both the role of a good director and nostalgia for nostalgia's sake (which fits the book all to well).

I have high hopes for this as a book reader, but I hope this doesn't wind up like Water for Elephants where I read the book, visited the Ringling Bros/ Barnum and Bailey museum in Sarasota, and then refused to see the movie because I read reviews that made it abundantly clear it ruined everything special.
My impression right now is that watching an episode of Stranger Things does a better job of conveying the feeling of the book than this movie.
