Halloween got a PG-13 rating for some strong violence, sensuality and salty language.
Just kidding.
Rated R for: horror violence and bloody images, language, brief drug use and nudity

So, the "Halloween" movie series takes place in 4 "quantum fictional realities":
Universe A: Halloween I, II, IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII
Universe B: Halloween III
Universe C: Halloween I (2007) and Halloween II (2009)
Universe D: Halloween (1978) and Halloween (2018)

Universe C: Halloween I (2007) and Halloween II (2009)
Universe D: Halloween (1978) and Halloween (2018)

That's correct. Although I like to try to think that the Zombie movies never happened.

The first one wasn't terrible but had too much of Zombie's style over it to be a real Halloween film (gore vs ambiance). The 2nd was so bad it makes me not even care about the 1st at all.

But I'm very excited about the Universe D to see how that's going to shake out this year and beyond.

Also, let's not forget the unreleased cut of VI which was almost a different movie completely. I still have a VHS of it somewhere.

Resurrection was a horrible end to the Laurie Strode character after how she was such a strong heroine in H20. I read that the only reason why Jamie Lee Curtis worked on it was because it was in her contract.
I'm glad it doesn't exist now.

And yet it's still far more entertaining than Zombie's films. Give me Busta Rhymes doing kung-fu any day over that garbage.

It is? I'll have to take a look. I can't even guess who would own the rights to it since it was completely scrapped.

You’re referring to the Producer’s Cut right? Scream Factory released both versions in the big fifteen disc set they released a few years ago (think it may have gotten an individual release at some point too).

I guess? It's been a long time but I remember the whole plot about the cult being completely different. I wouldn't called it a Producer's Cut since almost all of it was scrapped totally but if that's what it's called, then yes.

No shit. I bought the BD box set when it first came out but I don't remember this being included. I'll have to double check and pick up the single disc if not. I'd love to revisit it after all these years.

Yeah that’s what it’s been known as for as long as I can remember.

Thanks for the info on VI. I checked my BD set and it appears to be the one which doesn't include this cut. I ordered the single BD linked above.

Looks like this is the other big "get" for TIFF's Midnight Madness program, along with The Predator. I'll probably get tickets for both even though the inclusion of both of them is little more than advertising since they've already got release dates shortly afterward. Considering how many of the fest's films will probably end up on Netflix yet again this year, might as well support something that will actually play in theaters!
