Vote for your favorite Best Picture nominee (2015 Oscars)

Re: Vote for your favorite Best Picture nominee (2015 Oscars)
Enjoyed it, but it's not Best Picture quality. And the fact that Cooper was nominated over Gyllenhaal is laughable.

Don't tell rainbird131162 on the IMDB that. As with anything created by Clint Eastwood, it's a masterpiece, and people who speak against it are "little toerags" and "morons" who're immature and don't understand the psychological complexity and sensitive humanism of Eastwood's sure-handed direction. I've met some weird people online, but my God.

I think Cooper is fantastic in it - he carries the whole film. Not to take anything away from Gyllenhaal...or David Oyelowo for that matter. But I think the performance on the nominee list that needs to go is Steve Carell's, not Bradley Cooper's. I love Steve, but his performance is all makeup and voice tone.

I thought they both give monotonous performances and lose their likeness under the guise of make up/bulking up.

Boyhood by a country mile. Loved that film.
Thought Grand Budapest was pretty great as well, but didn't affect me on an emotional level at all.

I really enjoyed all of the films this year. It's really tough to vote because my feelings towards them depends on my mood. I'm going with Whiplash because I think it will probably have the best replay value for me.

Budapest is starting to pull away from the pack, but this is still the closest poll we've had yet.
I probably won't be casting my vote until next Saturday

I'm sort of glad 'American Sniper' is getting the controversy and more than likely not going to win Best Picture - Warner's tactic of releasing this in two cities in 2014 and everywhere else in 2015 reeks of elitism, best of 2014 - HAH! ...no

I just voted for Whiplash.
This is still very close with Budapest clinging to the lead.

Birdman will win.
Boyhood bored me to tears and so did the Imitation Game.
The only one I haven't seen is Budapest Hotel.

I ended up voting for American Sniper but I've only seen two movies off the list. AS and Budapest Hotel. Hotel was quirky and fun but Sniper gave me more overall entertainment value so that's the one I voted for.
Sniper had it's flaws but I enjoyed the picture. Hotel I spent a lot of time with my eyebrows crinkled wondering what was going on. I do have the rest of the pictures on my rental list so I'll come back and comment as I see them.

Being a wartime drama, I'd really like to see Imitation Game do something. I like Cumberbatch and war films so its a given I'll like it. Haven't researched yet to see what kind of liberties they took with history. Remember U-571 which showed the Americans grabbing the device when it was really the British?
Unfortunately I haven't yet seen a predictor calling for a win for that movie.
