I have no doubt Harrison Ford will get one of those, but as for an acting one, I'm not so sure. The man has sold a lot of popcorn over the years.

As for winning for actually acting in a movie, here are my guesses:

Yeah, kind of lame.

How could anyone be certain someone will win something anyway? The Best Actor or Actress awards are pretty much reserved for flavor of the month nowadays anyway.

It will either be someone who hasn't been in much who has had a breakout performance or someone who has been around for awhile with a long mediocre slump who picks the right role at the right time and gets a nomination.

I think Keaton will at least get a nomination for Birdman. It'd be awesome if he won as I've always really liked him as an actor.

DiCaprio and Pitt have a chance with the different roles they take on but I just don't see Tom Cruise ever getting a win. He doesn't even make the films that he did in the past when he would get nominated. In the future I see more Oblivion and no Born On The Fourth Of July for Cruise.

Michael Keaton has a great shot at winning this year for Birdman.

I don't even bother watching the Oscars anymore. I'm usually at work and the show is usually fairly boring anyways. I just read the results and watch the parts or speeches I'm interested in.

To answer my own thread:

I fully expect Leo DiCaprio to get eventually win one, but possibly in Denzel form: not for his best performance ever, but as a "it's about time we give him one" year. Same thing will probably eventually happen to Tom Cruise.

I ditto those who've mentioned Michael Fassbender, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Emily Blunt.

Once upon a time, I would've said Will Smith. Not sure so anymore.

Edward Norton deserves it even more. I thought Keaton was great in Birdman, but Norton IMO was better.

Also, if I had my way, Tom Hardy would be nominated for The Drop and Jake Gyllenhaal for Enemy.

Norton is not well liked in Hollywood. He's pretty unpopular with almost everyone that has ever worked with him. You could be waiting forever to see Norton win anything.

Norton's character in Birdman is more-or-less how he's perceived in Hollywood. Similar to Dustin Hoffman's character in Tootsie.

If we're talking Best Actor Oscar, not any Oscar. If they made one more movie that was the type to at least get them nominated I think Eastwood, Redford, Beatty, and yes, Burt Reynolds would get it just for the heck of it.

10 years ago I would have said Samuel L Jackson, but after the Academy ignored him for Django Unchained, I'm starting to doubt he'll ever be nominated again let alone win.
