How/When did Nic Cage become a B Grade Movie Actor ?
 

I have no idea how a great actor like Nic Cage has become a B movie actor alongside the likes of Wesley Snipes, Steven Segal, Van Damme etc

Having starred in classics like Con Air, Face off, the Rock, Leaving Las Vegas, 8mm and Gone in 60 seconds, how the frack did this happen ?

I've also considered Nic Cage a quality actor as opposed to a 'flavour of the month' actor.

Does he have a bad agent or something ?

Easy. He started to have money problems and took whatever job would pay him money.

Call him a B Grade actor but I'd still match the best of his filmography up against an actor like Sean Penn anyday.

(Hmmm...now that I think of it, how great would Cage have been in DiCaprio's role in DJANGO UNCHAINED?)

Not great, I think. If we take the same template that is there I don't think it'd translate well to Cage. Maybe other actors but I don't think he'd slip in as well.

The money problems and taking any job available is a big reason. He also gives the impression many times that he sees it as just another job and has no emotional investment in the role. Many times he plays the part shouty and over the top. That can fit some characters, but not all of them.

I don't think he is as far down as the others mentioned in the original post, and there is a good chance he will get another good role that will see his star power rise again. In the mean time he would be better suited to choosing roles better suited and limit them rather than taking everything that comes his way.

Joe is one of the best films released this year, and it's because of him.

He does a lot of B-movies but I wouldn't classify him as a B-actor. When he gives a shit he's excellent.

I wouldn't say so, but car movies aren't my things. It has an interesting cast for sure, but other than it's pretty meh.
