It is one thing to write about awful Jason Statham films (War, Parker, In the Name of the King) or the terrific ones (Crank, Safe, The Bank Job), but how about the middle-of-the-road ones? Mechanic: Resurrection falls decidedly in the middle of the Brit action star’s best efforts and there is really nothing wrong or great about that. The bigger question may be just how many people remember 2011’s The Mechanic to begin with. Don’t worry though, as this film is far too generic to be all that concerned with intense continuity.

I like Stuckmann as a reviewer but I agree that his thumbnails all look a bit odd. He always has to be doing some over exaggerated expression.

I can't believe how shitty some of this movie was - that scene where Statham takes a small motor boat out to the big boat that Alba is on, to rescue her from the abusive boyfriend - I swear it was just poor mans process - Statham is literally sitting in a boat on a soundstage with a black backdrop and a dude to camera right is tossing buckets of water for splashes....unbelievable.

Saw it yesterday and enjoyed it. Everything I expected, Statham killing lots of people. The setups for each hit were cool to watch.
Forgot Michelle Yeoh was in this. Its a small roll, and she doesnt kick anyone
Tommy Lee Jones was better than usual, since he wasnt just playing himself like he has been doing.

Just got back from a matinee and I also liked it. Brought nothing new to the genre, but it was a fun action-packed 99 minutes. Everything you would expect from an R-rated Statham action movie.
Statham was pretty badass and there was a super high body count. I don't recall much from the 1st movie, but the plot of this movie was pretty standalone, so you don't have to see the 1st Mechanic to catch this one.
Jessica Alba looked hot in her bikinis and sun dresses and it was nice seeing Michelle Yeoh even though it was a fairly small supporting role.
The pool scene in Australia was pretty cool.
Some nice locations, although you could tell a lot of it was shot in front of a green screen. Overall, a good time and one of his better recent efforts playing the good guy. Catch a matinee if you're a fan.

I recently watched The Wave and feel it is a masterpiece...great film that in my opinion never really drags in parts and the special effects are rock solid. My comment in the Last Movie You Watched thread is that I wish Roland Emmerich natural disaster films were this good.
If you have a little extra time off this weekend it is worth the time to watch in one sitting.
Edited to add: If my brother wanted to see The Mechanic: Resurrection this weekend I would go with him to the theater, otherwise, I suspect this will be a really fun film to watch on cable/netflix.

Some folks didn't read my later clarification that the director of this did NOT direct the Norwegian disaster flick The Wave. He directed the German all-female vampire flick We Are the Night, which is excellent.
I watched this with a buddy last night and he made few comments about the CGI. As was already mentioned that poor man's process on the raft boat was hilarious as was some of the background scenes in Brazil. I mean, they shot stuff on actual locations/different countries around the world, but still cut corners. In that sense it was ambitious, because I can see where they were wanting to shift the money production-wise. The fights scenes were great and I actually liked it more than the first film. The dude that played the main bad guy sounded just like Sean Bean and looked like a poor man's Dougray Scott.
It's worth a rental.

This movie was pretty much exactly what i expected it to be. It could have been a lot better as some of the action felt a little flat, and Alba is a complete waste of time here. But i always dig Stathams movies as they are popcorn hark backs to 80s movies cheese actioners. I could enjoy a third movie in the series.

Thought this was entertaining but not great. Almost felt like they had two Statham scripts they wanted to make but could only afford one so they combined them both. The Australia scene was awesome though. 3/5
