That wouldn't be a bad idea. "From the writer and director of The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron"

What's sad is that his treatment was fan-fucking-tastic. Proof that the suits at WB have no fucking clue what they're doing. Another example is that one of the suits wanted to ditch the ring in the first aborted attempt at a Green Lantern movie.

At this point, I wish Disney would buy WB and all its properties.

Was that the Jack Black version?

I don't even recall the Jack Black one.

I'm talking about the first time Geoff Johns pitched a Green Lantern movie. One of the WB suits told him they'd only make the movie if they could ditch GL having a ring.

Re: Wonder Woman (2017) (S: Gadot)

I hadn't heard that one. Totally explains Warners mentality regarding these properties. I remember when they first announced the Green Lantern logo at a licensing event and the poster's subtitle was "Anyone could be chosen" which caused some backlash.

The Jack Black one was floating around back in 2006. Black would have been Kyle Rayner and it would have been a full-on comedy. Robert Smigel was going to handle the screenplay. The internet says that fan backlash was so bad that Warner scrapped the plans but I don't know how true that is.

Watching the GL that was actually released, I probably wouldn't poo-poo the comedy version.

I did as well, but I think we're in the minority.

How is he going to drive something like that without ever being seen?
No one really knows unless they've seen the dailies for Batman V. Superman. That was speculation in this particular case. I think they plan to include nods to Batman's past from Nolan's trilogy, but graft an entire history after those events as well.

I doubt the rumor is true, but making it a period piece makes me more interested.

I hope they get Lexi Alexander to direct this.

If true, I think it would have been pretty awesome to keep the reveal under wraps. Having the majority of the film taking place in Paradise Island where the year is unknown and having the audience find out it's the 1920s the same time as Wonder Woman does. 1920s twist...cliffhanger ending...leave the audience wanting more for the sequel.

They have already said, repeatedly, that the Nolan trilogy is not part of the DCCU. Nolan's Bruce Wayne retired at the end. He's done. He passed the cowl on to John Blake.

If anything, the Gotham TV series is more likely to be Batfleck's past backstory and origin.

Disagree. I like that Bruce is honing his detective skills at an early age. That's something Nolan ignored in his trilogy (aside from a brief CSI sequence in TDK and a web search in TDKR).

"Anyone could be chosen" - is that a reference to the casting? Because with Ryan Reynolds in the role, that's certainly true.

It was going to be the movie's subtitle, so I believe it was in reference to being chosen to become a Green Lantern.

Which is complete bullshit on par with them wanting to cut the Lantern rings out of the movie. Not just anyone can be chosen to become a Green Lantern. Only a person with tremendous willpower can be a Green Lantern. The green rings are powered by a person's willpower.

Bravery is also a major factor in the selection process.

Michelle MacLaren, who was an Executive Producer and Director on Breaking Bad, is in talks to direct this. She's also directed episodes of Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead & was a Producer on The X-Files. Great choice if she gets the gig. Very experienced director who has worked on some big shows.
