I'd bitch about putting some info on this... but... we just know it exists and who it stars. Uh. Any flicks one could recommend that has Boseman? I don't think I know him. He was in 42 and that James Brown flick. Were they any good?

That costume looks great and sleek. I could see the Black Panther becoming very popular.

A big deal black superhero. Marvel is throwing the goddamn gauntlet, AGAIN, with all these new announcements. I would hate to be at WB today.

I actually dig the outfit, but I think the mask has a very Batman Beyond-ish look to it. Not a bad thing but that's what I noticed.

You can see him in Black Panther in 2017.

I LOVE this character. He has such a unique background in comparison to all the rest coming out. Cuz we don't see Africa like this at all. I'm excited!

42 was not very good. I'm surprised that he's the choice for this, but we'll see what happens.

Is he a solid actor? His work doesn't seem all that good but maybe he was?

He himself was good. It just seems weird that he's Jackie Robinson and James Brown within the span of one year, but good for him for getting these roles, even if they didn't hit big.

He was awesome in "Get On Up" and "42". I think you meant Han Solo was not very good in "42".

Deadline says he's signed for five films. (why not six?) I don't really know anything about the character, so hopefully the standalone film has some origin story to it (since we'll apparently see him in Cap3 first).

Klaw?

There are rumors that Serkis is Klaw in AoU. Whoever he is playing does look like Ulysses Klaw.

That's the baddie I always think of when it comes to Panther. Mostly cuz of the Vibranium.

Read my next post. I said the movie wasn't good, but he was. Though I will agree that the Futurama Richard Nixon impression that Ford put forth wasn't that great either.

I kind of wanted to see 42 cuz I like Jackie Robinson's story.

Ford was laughably bad, IMO, but Boseman was easily the best part (and not the reason the movie pretty much blew).

I had a discussion with someone at work today who saw the James Brown movie and she agreed that although the movie wasn't any good, he was great in the role. So he can act, he just hasn't been in anything decent.

Also he was in Draft Day, but I don't remember him in it. A lot of people in that, including Tom Welling.

I was just looking to type "Han Solo".

Even though I like this casting, I think an actual African actor or at least an actor from the UK would have been cool so I wont have to hear a fake African accent.

He was in 42, Draft Day and Get on Up.

I've seen all 3 and I thought he did good work for the material he was given.

42 is a pretty by the numbers and predictable bio pic.

Draft Day he plays a member of the Cleveland Browns. It's a really minor part.

I thought he was fantastic in Get on Up. Really electrifying performance.

+1
I always imagined Black Panther with a semi-regal British accent for some reason. He should not have an American accent.

wasn't the Hulk battle filmed in South Africa?

I wouldn't be surprised to see BP show up as an Easter egg in AoU.

I'm not sure how much you'd want. If they take a cue from the comics. He's royalty in Wakanda, the title is passed on normally, and the Panther is the protector of Wakanda. That's all I ever knew for the longest time and it worked for me. The guy pretty much just proves himself immediately to where having an origin was cool but not really needed to appreciate him. His powers are given to him. Is the panther god still an origin of that?

Wakanda is an isolated country. No contact with other countries. It's pretty advanced in comparison to even the US. He's kind of a whole package deal that you get where he's going by the way he presents himself.

No, not even close. They have nothing at all in common, other than both having a "cat" in their name.

Yes, it really is getting out of hand.

Why couldn't they get Sharlto Copley for the role?

a true african

re: Black Panther (7/6/18) S: Chadwick Boseman

There were a number of names banded around for the role, but not surprised that Marvel chose a lesser known actor. They like to keep it cheap when possible and i think that they truly look at actors with the potential to do justice to a role rather than just someone who is cheap and is available.

I love the look of the suit. It is very close to the comics and really looks cool. Hopefully the finished version in the movie will be close, if not exact, to it.

So i guess the villain for the movie will be Andy Serkis as Klaw.

Solid Snake 10-29-14 07:32 AM

re: Black Panther (7/6/18) S: Chadwick Boseman

Klaw is rumored for AoU but we still don't know if that guy is Klaw or not. Looks like Klaw....

james2025a 10-29-14 07:40 AM

re: Black Panther (7/6/18) S: Chadwick Boseman

Yeah, looks like he might transition to Klaw between AoU and Black Panther. He could be a great villain.
