I hadn't heard that. I guess that's fine with me at this point since the universe is already established enough that we can accept the heroes in it. I hope they give a bit of background though just to fill in where the characters are at when they're introduced and whatnot.

Lupita Nyong'o, who won an Oscar for her performance in 12 Years a Slave, is in negotiations to star opposite Chadwick Boseman in Marvel Studios’ Black Panther.
Ryan Coogler, who wrote and directed Creed, is helming the comic book movie as well as writing the script.
Boseman and Black Panther were introduced in Captain America: Civil War, which crossed the $700 million worldwide mark in under a week and a half.
The character, whose name is T’Challa, is the warrior king of Wakanda, Marvel’s fictional African nation that is rich in an unbreakable alloy called vibranium.
N’yongo’s character has not been revealed although she will be the Panther’s love interest.
Panther has a February 2, 2018 release date with production aiming to start in early 2017.
N’yongo last appeared as the alien Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and lent her voice for the wolf Raksha in The Jungle Book. She is also attached to star in DreamWorks’ Intelligent Life, a sci-fi drama currently seeking a director.
She is repped by CAA, D2 Management, and Del Shaw.

I guess I haven't been keeping up on my Marvel news. I thought this thing was currently filming and would be released next year sometime, at the latest.

I know it's not even shooting yet, but I'm pretty pumped for this movie. Black Panther was one of my favorite parts of Civil War.
Excellent director choice and the cast is rounding out really nicely with Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, and Danai Gurira of Walking Dead fame. With that much talent on board, it's setting up to have pretty high expectations.

Forest Whitaker Joins Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ (EXCLUSIVE)
October 7, 2016 | 03:15PM PT
Forest Whitaker has joined the cast of Marvel’s “Black Panther,” starring Chadwick Boseman.
Daniel Kaluuya and Florence Kasumba have also joined the cast.
The film, directed by “Creed” helmer Ryan Coogler, also stars Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira. Boseman will play T’Challa, the prince of the African nation of Wakanda, who must take over the throne after his father’s murder. Marvel unveiled the character in “Captain America: Civil War” in May before the standalone film bows on Feb. 16, 2018.
Whitaker will play the role of Zuri, an elder stateman in Wakanda. Kasumba will reprise her “Captain America: Civil War” role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje. Kaluuya will play T’Challa confidant W’Kabi
Joe Robert Cole is co-penning the script with Coogler. Kevin Feige is producing the movie.
Whitaker has a busy fall schedule ahead of him with Paramount’s “Arrival,” directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, debuting next month and “Star Wars: Rogue One” opening in December. He was most recently seen in the boxing pic “Southpaw.”
He is repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment.

Ayo looked like she was ready to kick ass at any moment. Loved her bit w/ Natasha. I love the Dora Milaje in the comics. They were cool and fucking crazy w/ their ass kicking.

As long as there's a scene outside Wakonda, it should be easy to shoehorn him in as "old man on bench" or whatever.
