Didnít you know that America is great again?

In light-hearted news, Iím loving the Coming To America meme(s) involving those who have been going to see the movie in style. Thereís a ton of great pics on Instagram.

It's a fun movie, but it's drenched in exposition--much more than most Marvel movies.

"Of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

Kind of funny to look back 2 weeks in this thread and see the posts of how there was no way it would hit $150 million. :p

Saturday AM writethru, after Friday, 8:58PM: By the time the four-day Presidentís Day holiday stretch ends, Black Panther will have surpassed many of Marvelís mightiest on the all-time domestic B.O. openers chart. Not to mention Disney continues to crowd the list, now taking up eight of the top 10 slots. Black Panther is now looking at the sixth-best opening of all-time on a three-day-basis with an estimated $185.8M per industry projections Saturday AM and a mind-blowing $213M over four days. Note that between Friday night and this morning (roughly a seven-hour time frame), estimates changed. Currently, Saturday should see around $61M which puts us at these figures. Anything significantly greater, and Black Panther breaks even more records.

Do the events in this movie take place before CA:CW?

After, though there are a few flashbacks that take place before. Those should be very obvious though

$191 Million for 3 Day; $218 Million for the 4 Day weekend.

UNREAL.

I expected $150 Million, which would have been a huge hit. This is a MONSTER hit.

Cool.

It’s awesome. This finally appeals to almost all demographics and that it was truly well done (made, written, directed, acted, etc...), the accolades it sounds, is well deserved...

Saw it today. I liked it quite a bit, but I would put it more in the middle of the MCU library overall. Great bad guy in Killmonger and I liked it had a real James Bond vibe (hell I could have sworn that club in South Korea was the same as the one in Skyfall...scene played very similar). I don't think I have ever seen a movie with as many credits for FX work and I understand as this was massively effects heavy, and that hurt it I felt. It felt too cartoony at times. I really did like the social messages they were getting across and they did so without beating it into the audience.

Oh, and the 3D was a waste of time, but then most movies in 3D are.

The one moment where I thought the 3D was spectacular was in the climax of the 2nd challenge. The depths of the waterfall suddenly made my screen look Imax-y.

I haven't seen it yet, and not a Marvel fanboy, but it does make me chuckle that Marvel continues to toss out movies about B and C listers like Black Panther, Ant-Man, and GoG and are killing it, critically and financially, and DC still can't get their shit together with their A listers.

DC is stupid, because they hit the fast forward button on their films to try and catch up to Marvel. How they cannot see it by now is beyond me. They should have had a 10 year plan and let that shit grow organically.

DC also fucked up by making their world completely joyless, and writing all their characters as miserable people who hate being superheroes. Who wants to spend any time in that world?

Don't forget , Iron Man was considered by many as a B-lister and his movie is what launched this empire.

I posted this in the spoiler thread:

My son and I saw it on LieMAX 3D and I didn't think that it was worth it. Very little extra depth and no pop-outs that I remember. Beautiful picture though and excellent sound design.

For me the scenes that showed 3D prowess were around the waterfall. Nothing else "jumped out" that I remembered. The 3D fan in me did order the 3D steelbook from Zavvi though :-)
