Any movie series that you always watch as a movie marathon?

When I watch Back to the Future, I always try and watch the entire trilogy at one time. Are there any movie series that you always try and watch every movie in the series at the same time in a movie marathon?

I always watch all three Godfather films together, usually on Super Bowl Sunday.

If there's a snow day, I usually do this. I've watched the Godfather trilogy, Back to the Future trilogy and the Star Wars trilogy (the good one) on those days where escaping the house is impossible.

The regulars: Back to the Future, Star Wars OT (I don't think I've seen the prequels since they were released on DVD), Indy (NEVER the 4th one, it doesn't exist), and LOTR Extended Editions (when I have 11 or 12 hours free)

Back when I used to watch Star Wars, which was very, very frequently until the Great Divorce, I always watched all three. If I'm ever in a BTTF mood, I'd do the same. I did for a long time with Indiana Jones, but for a while my distaste for the second made me skip it. That said, I don't ever do all-day marathons or anything like that. But usually over the course of several days. I'm waiting the psychotically long wait for the Ultimate Middle Earth boxed set, and then I'll watch all six movies. Haven't see LOTR in years, it'll be interesting to see how time treats them. I used to do it with the Matrix movies when I was teen. I liked the sequels more than most people. Almost always did it with the then-trilogy of Die Hard as well. I'd be happy to add 4, but I don't ever want to see 5 again.

There are no movies series that I always watch as a complete marathon, in fact there aren't even any that I usually watch that way. If I did though, it would probably be The Lord of the Rings or The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Hate to take us off on another tangent, but is the big-ass ultimate DK trilogy box worth it? It seems like the only new extras are the Donner thing and the retrospective, I'm not hugely interested in all the stuff in the package like the toys and whatnot, and the standard trilogy box has all of the other extras and UV anyway. I hear the DKR transfer is pretty poor though. I'm glad Nolan doesn't like DIs, but I still wish they'd get or use a better digital master. That is one that I've been meaning to watch as a complete cycle, I'm curious how they hold together as a piece.

^ same here. It's kinda random if I wind up watching all the movies of a series.

They never actually made all six movies. Just the two sequels.

Pretty much boils down to what's running during the holidays. I'll catch a BttF marathon or SW: OT marathon on Christmas, Thanksgiving or something like that.

Rocky
The Matrix
Godfather
Underworld
Naked Gun
Alien

I cannot do Nightmare on Elm street or Halloween. Around the 4th movie I'm already exhausted.

Nothing here either, I usually don't have the time to sit and marathon through any particular series. If I want to watch a series, it usually ends up spanning a week before I get around to seeing them all.

Re: Any movie series that you always watch as a movie marathon?

I have done marathons of the following movie series - Back To The Future - Scream - Final Destination - Transformers - Rocky.
I tried a couple of times to do a Lord Of The Rings marathon but could never get pass the middle of the second movie.

Mighty Ducks - usually the day before or the day of when the Anaheim Ducks play my local team the Buffalo Sabres. Will be an early season viewing this year as Sabres host the Ducks on Monday, Oct 13. Will be an early morning marathon too if I want to watch all three movies before the hockey game starts as its 3:05 pm ET puck-drop. I was thinking of doing something different this year - watch the first two movies and timing it right so the second one ends before the hockey game begins. Then after the hockey game ends, I'll watch the third movie.

Slapshot/Major League - Before hockey season starts, I do a marathon of hockey movies - watch all three Slapshot movies (yeah even the second and third ones) along with Miracle, Mystery Alaska and Youngblood. Before baseball season starts, I do a marathon of baseball movies - watch all three Major League movies along with The Natural, Eight Men Out and Field Of Dreams.

Batman - although I split it up with Batman/Batman Returns/Batman Forever/Batman and Robin in one viewing and the Batman Begins/The Dark Knight/The Dark Knight Rises in another viewing.
The three Mummy movies and the first two Scorpion King movies - the third one wasn't out on DVD/Blu-Ray yet.
Toy Story - did it just last week while babysitting my cousins kids.

I don't do marathons very often

Probably Rocky and Die Hard would be the ones

Honestly, no. The set recycles the same discs as the individual releases only with different (uninspired) disc art. The only thing you get is the bonus disc. It's okay, but definitely not worth the price of admission. The only reason I bought the box was because it was an Amazon Deal of the Day and I got it super cheap.

Re: Any movie series that you always watch as a movie marathon?

Anything that's part of a series, I'll usually watch the whole series. I don't just randomly pop in Halloween 4 or Die Hard 2... unless it's on TV or something. But if it's a long series, this would take a matter of days, not one sitting.

Re: Any movie series that you always watch as a movie marathon?

The kids and I used to do LOTR all at once. But then the extended editions came out and it's just.too.long.
During the Harry Potter run I used to watch all the movies that were out all at once, but now it's impossible.
