Re: Yoga Hosers (D: Smith) S: spawn of Smith & Depp - Tusk "sequel"

I read an article today that Yoga Hosers is going to average less than $1,000 for the weekend in the theaters it's playing in. No, not $1,000 a day, $1,000 for the THREE DAY WEEKEND.

It also said this will be the third Kevin Smith movie in a row to make less than $2 million its opening weekend.

This is the current estimate from Deadline.com as of Saturday night

Yoga Hosers (IND), 140 theaters / $15k Fri /3-day cume: $65k /$4-day: $82k/ Wk 1

By comparison, Tusk made about $850,000 its first weekend, and Red State made about $200,000.

Maybe he can get Johnny Depp to finance his next fiasco.

I guess the bright side being it still grossed more per theater than Neon Demon did on opening weekend and with substantially less advertising.

It probably should have been released VOD. Maybe it could have made twice the revenue.

Re: Yoga Hosers (D: Smith) S: spawn of Smith & Depp - Tusk "sequel"

The 4-day weekend estimate has dropped from $82,000 to $53,000

Yoga Hosers (IND), 140 theaters / $15K Fri /$14K Sat. (-6%)/ $14K Sun. (0%)/ 3-day cume: $44K /$4-day: $53K/ Wk 1

Honestly, who is going to finance another Kevin Smith movie? I think he may be directing TV from this point forward.

Well if he sticks to the View Askew universe, he might be able to get the Weinsteins to keep funding him. That aside, pretty much everything not related to View Askew has been bad.

I thought he'd burned his bridges with the Weinsteins?

He couldn't get funding for a Clerks or Mallrats sequel.

I thought that the reason that the bottom dropped out of the proposed Mallrats sequel wasn't that he couldn't get it funded, but that Universal owns the rights, and wouldn't let it go.

Re: Yoga Hosers (D: Smith) S: spawn of Smith & Depp - Tusk "sequel"

I take no pleasure in watching Kevin Smith flounder. I've adored his early work (Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma and most everything before the 2010's). I just wish he'd reduce his weed intake. He's got talent at writing and I think his directing has gotten better over the years, but his choice in projects...

I just want to remember him as the guy who did this "get well" video for my Dad after my Dad's brain surgery. He didn't have to do that, but he did. That's why I'll always boost him, even if I don't watch his current fare.

While I don't care for his recent output, I do admire the man for addressing his criticisms. I doubt Zack Snyder or Michael Bay , whose movies tend to get similar notices on RT % wise, would do the same.

The bright side is that Neon Demon is one of the best films of the year. Yeah, I said it.

It was certainly the schlockiest. Blood douche? Coming right up! (I didn't dislike it)

I watched this today, while there was a small modicum of fun I drew from the movie, overall it was terrible. The worst film of Kevin Smith's career. Worse than Copout.

Johnny Depp and Kevin Smith have cute daughters.

Watched it and it sucked hard. This shit is for YouTube, not home release or theater release for that matter. Podcast jokes, turned into movies just isn't working for me. TUSK was OK but this was crap.

Tried to watch this today and turned it off after 15 minutes. The Depp/Smith daughters were okay, but the story and writing was piss poor from what I saw. Smith went for every single Canadian stereotype in the book, and that's just from a few minutes. I hope someone gives him a wake-up call soon.

Thanks. Going to start watching now.

Poor Yoga Hosers. Most new movies make it to "Trending" when they're released. I had to do a keyword search just to find it.

I like Kevin Smith. So I figure I'll get something out of this.

Re: Yoga Hosers (D: Smith) S: spawn of Smith & Depp - Tusk "sequel"

It was really fast and easy. There's really only a handful of scenes with a few hooks. It tries to be energetic and fun. Reminds me of lots of 80's and 90's movies (think: something The Coreys would have put out).

I'm one of those guys who will watch anything Kevin Smith makes. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. Clerks 2 was his last movie that I really felt and would go back and watch again and again. I'll ignore that it was ten years ago.

Re: Yoga Hosers (D: Smith) S: spawn of Smith & Depp - Tusk "sequel"

So last night's Comic Book Men spent the entire episode pimping this movie turd.

Sweet Jesus, does it look awful. It's like, you know when you're watching a shitty movie that has a fake shitty movie in it? Yoga Hosers is that fake shitty movie in the shitty movie.

And am I the only one disturbed that Kevin Smith made a movie specifically as a vehicle for his teenaged daughter and played a talking, uncircumcized penis that antagonizes his daughter and her friend? You'd think someone would taken Kevin by the arm, pulled him aside, and said "Um, dude, do you really want to go there?"

We're watching it now.

Aboot 45 minutes in and it's getting tough to stay with it.

Not the wurst movie ever made but it's pretty bad.
