FALCON RISING - The first installment of our new CODENAME FALCON action franchise. The franchise will revolve around former marine John "Falcon" Chapman, a dark anti-hero driven by guilt, who will destroy himself unless given something else to destroy - a useful weapon-of-last-resort for the foreign ministry. The first movie sees Chapman traveling to Brazil to hunt down his sister's brutal attackers, in the process discovering an underground world of drugs, prostitution, and police corruption ruled by the Japanese mafia. Directed by Ernie Barbarash and starring Michael Jai White as Chapman, the franchise will produce 1-2 movies a year following Chapman as he is sent to exotic locations to do the foreign ministry's dirty work.
If you live in the Atlanta area, there is a special screening on the 9th. This looks pretty badass and sounds interesting they are planning to make this a new action film series.
Michael Jai White vs the Yakuza sounds freaking awesome. Hope they can make this as good as Ninja II.

I would so have preferred Michael Jai White as the Equalizer instead of Denzel. But Mr. White isn't a boxoffice name.

It is sad how we have guys like Adkins and White but they can't be headlining a wide released action flick. Just smaller stuff.
I need to get the BD fortune Black Dynamite cartoon. That pilot was amazing.

FYI this is on Amazon on Demand right now.
Did I mention that it's ridiculous just how criminally underrated MJW is? He has to be up their with Scott Adkins. Maybe more so since everyone talks about how criminally underrated Adkins is.
Looks like we have another contender along with Ninja 2 for best direct to video action movie. MJW carries this movie incredibly well and he is just a force on screen. His martial arts is so crisp that it's hard not to be impressed. And thankfully none if it is missed by the shakey cam quick cut bullshit we so often see from Hollywood now a days. The stand out fight coming at the end where we get MJW against three guys with a make shift pair of Tonfas.
It has some slow parts but the parts with MJW kick ass and I can't wait to see more movies starring him.

Rented this today from XBox video for $4.99 for the HD version.
Loved this movie. Total badass martial arts action movie.
I mean it's Michael Jai White vs corrupt Brazilian cops, The Yakuza, and Gang Members.
Non-stop badass action. I agree with Robin this was just as a good as Ninja II as far as action goes. It didn't feel cheap at all. It was shot on location in Puerto Rico, pretending to be Brazil. I think shooting it on location also added to it.
At the end they set up the sequel perfectly. I look forward to more adventures of John Chapman. Hopefully McDonough returns as well as Falcon's handler.

Saw this just now. It's cheap, gots Brazil as a backdrop which adds to the value, and simple. Cliche story, of course, but White rocks it. Goddamn it. Why the fuck don't we have major action films w/ this motherfucker as a lead?! He can actually act too! *sigh* I hate our world.
Blood and Bone... haven't seen that one yet. Guess I'll start watching that too. White is just fun to see. Great voice too.

True but he can act circles around most of the Fast and Furious cast too. So we've no grand lows for acting in our mainstream. Especially Dom's sister. Someone get that girl an acting coach.

It was decent but has no place among the high end DTV films. It started off a little too slow and one thing about MJW movies is he has zero interest in taking a bump. It is almost comical at this point.

Agreed, it was just OK at best. MJW is awesome, but I thought the action was a little disappointing, especially the gunplay. The audio for the gunfire sounded cheap and amateur. Too many obvious CGI muzzle flashes and blood. Speaking of blood, I thought this one was relatively tame. Way too many hits without blood.
The hand to hand combat was pretty solid, for a DTV movie.
Won't be revisiting this, but I'm always up to watch a new MJW movie.
