You get the strong feeling one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing. Though I understand the concern, Warner Discovery has been shelving a lot of product lately for tax breaks and other sundry reasons.

You would think Gunn would have been given a list of EVERYTHING DC in development, that way they could plan to wrap up and air/release the old before starting the new. Seems like this one escaped him? lol

I would assume it’s being held due to the writers strike and possible actors strike. They’re going to need content to put out in case those drag on.

Why is this not a live action DC movie?

Or this?

Jesus....all the variant covers at the end of that trailer. Is that shit still going on? I thought that was lesson was learned back in the early 90's collapse.

Excessive variants are still very much a thing. And not just from Marvel and DC.

If you've been away that long, you haven't seen anything.

The way the do variants now is that, like, for every 100 copies copies of Batman #15 the retailer buys, they can buy one copy of a super special Jim Lee variant of Batman #15.

Or, even more maddening, in order to order, say, a variant cover of Fantastic Four vol 9 #1, you need to have bought seventy-five copies of Hawkeye #17 the month before.

It's the customers that need to learn the lesson and stop buying that stuff. But they haven't, so...

Same when people complain about endless crossovers and new number 1s. Purchases increase every time.

As far as why those aren't live action films, they're not all under the WB umbrella. We're more likely to get something like Transformers/GI Joe which is. Plus if you can't even make a good standalone JL film, what kind of draw is that to do a live action crossover with another property?

Variants are practically the only valuable new comics being made today.

I mean in the old days the story was the value... not sealing something in a slab so you can look at a cover (I always wondered, what if like some of these comics were just blank pages? How would they even know?)

I wondered the same about comics that came factory sealed in "collectible" bags (like Superman #75 and The Adventures of Superman #500).

So that's why they got an omnibus recently collecting their comics.
