DC Threatened By A Snyderverse Fan For Falsely Advertising Henry Cavill’s Return As Superman?(Photo Credit –Still From Movie)The die-hard fans of DCEU rejoiced as they saw Henry Cavill don the blue tights again in last year’s Black Adam. The movie teased a bigger project for Cavill’s Man of Steel but DC Studios soon clarified that was not going to happen. Now, the maddened DCEU fans are threatening to sue DCU but the question has emerged, can they?
DCU has been announced by the new co-CEO of DC Studios, Gunn. Gunn has dropped Snyder’s original plan for DCU and is reportedly willing to move ahead with Crisis on Infinite Earths, which was previously Warner Bros. plan for DCEU.
DCEU, also known as Snyderverse (Zack Snyder’s universe), starred Henry Cavill as Superman in three movies. While it was revealed that Cavill will not return to his superhero role, he made a cameo in Black Adam. However, James Gunn later explained that he is looking for a younger actor to play Kal-El in the DCU. The news left the DCEU fans divided as many opposed the co-CEO’s decision.
Now, as per We Got This Covered, one die-hard fan has proposed to file a class action false advertising lawsuit against DC Studios as they did not fulfil bringing back Cavill to his superman role after his cameo in Dwayne Johnson’s movie. However, a similar lawsuit was recently filed against Universal surrounding Ana de Armas’ appearance in the trailer but not in the finished film. While film trailers can be considered advertisements, the same does not go with a finished film. Therefore, the lawsuit against DC Studios may not be valid.
While DC studios are all set to work on their first slate Gods and Monsters, they have been beaten by MCU for all the wrong reasons. Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has surpassed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for the biggest week-to-week decline for a movie based on a comic book.

Marc Guggenheim, who created Arrow on The CW and basically co-developed the entire CW DC universe, sounds pretty butt hurt that he didn’t get a call from Gunn about any potential involvement with the new DC.

The fact that he called it a waste of time is total silly nonsense. You know how many people would have killed to have the job he had for that period time and the paychecks he happily cashed.
Probably bitter because he hasn't had a show of his own get picked up after he quit the franchise several years ago.

So did James Gunn have to approve DC Superhero Night on The Masked Singer?

If it was a hit/popular then yes, he approved it. If people hated it then no, someone approved it before he got there!

Since Gunn is confirmed as the director of Superman: Legacy (was anyone surprised?), could he throw us a curveball and get someone like Chad Stahelski to direct a live action version of this?
Make it an Elseworlds title, I don't care. Just make it live action and akin to the 1990 TMNT feature, but with a harder edge.

The Rock handled this well, despite definitely looking uncomfortable answering the question.
Oh and it seems Zack Snyder is teasing something Darkseid related. Maybe he's directing a New Gods/Fourth World movie for the new DCU continuity?

Well lets put rumors of Affleck directing to bed

The Justice League experience, the fact that those stories became somewhat repetitive to me and less interesting. Yeah, I did finally figure out how to play that character [Batman], and I nailed it in The Flash. For the five minutes I’m there, it’s really great. A lot of it’s just tone. You’ve got to figure out, what’s your version of the person? Who is the guy that fits what you can do? I tried to fit myself into a Batman. And by the way, I like a lot of the stuff we did, especially the first one [[i]Batman v Superman].
But not Justice League. What went wrong there?
Justice League … You could teach a seminar on all the reasons why this is how not to do it. Ranging from production to bad decisions to horrible personal tragedy, and just ending with the most monstrous taste in my mouth. The genius, and the silver lining, is that Zack Snyder eventually went to AT&T and was like, “Look, I can get you four hours of content.” And it’s principally just all the slow motion that he shot in black-and-white. And one day of shooting with me and him. He was like, “Do you want to come shoot in my backyard?” I was like, “I think there are unions, Zack. I think we have to make a deal.” But I went and did it. And now [[i]Zack Snyder’s Justice League] is my highest-rated movie on IMDb.
Isn’t that because Zack Snyder’s fans are so intense online?
Say what you want, it is my highest-rated career movie. I’ve never had one that went from nadir to pinnacle. Retroactively, it’s a hit. All of a sudden I was getting congratulated for the bomb I’m in. But I was going to direct a Batman, and [[i]Justice League] made me go, “I’m out. I never want to do any of this again. I’m not suited.” That was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a business which is full of some shitty experiences. It broke my heart. There was an idea of someone [Joss Whedon] coming in, like, “I’ll rescue you and we’ll do 60 days of shooting and I’ll write a whole thing around what you have. I’ve got the secret.” And it wasn’t the secret. That was hard. And I started to drink too much. I was back at the hotel in London, it was either that or jump out the window. And I just thought, “This isn’t the life I want. My kids aren’t here. I’m miserable.” You want to go to work and find something interesting to hang onto, rather than just wearing a rubber suit, and most of it you’re just standing against the computer screen going, “If this nuclear waste gets loose, we’ll …” That’s fine. I don’t condescend to that or put it down, but I got to a point where I found it creatively not satisfying. Also just, you’re sweaty and exhausted. And I thought, “I don’t want to participate in this in any way. And I don’t want to squander any more of my life, of which I have a limited amount.”
So if DC came to you now and said, “Do you want to direct something?”
I would not direct something for the [James] Gunn DC. Absolutely not. I have nothing against James Gunn. Nice guy, sure he’s going to do a great job. I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that. I’m not interested in that.

Some honest words. I like Affleck as an actor and a director and he was a good Batman, so it's sad to see the chapter being closed, but at least he's honest about it, without being bitter, although his experience was so terrible. I don't need him to direct a DC movie, although I'm sure something like The Batman would have been the right fit for him. His crime thrillers are great.

Yeah, it sucks things played out the way they did. It also sucks we didn't get his vision for The Batman (although I adore the movie Matt Reeves gave us). However, he seems to be in a good place and I do look forward to what Affleck directs next, on his terms.

I would have much rather have gotten Affleck's Batman over Reeves, but alas we'll never know.
Kind of a weird answer about directing for Gunn. I wonder what the angle is there. Just being tied to a long term story like Marvel where he'd be beholden to the overall big picture and not just doing his own thing? Is he friends/friendly with Cavill? Maybe the way that was handled is a factor?

fuck Gunn

I mean he says right there he has nothing against Gunn but he doesn't want to go into that kind of situation again where he'd have no freedom to do what he wants with the character/movie.

Yeah, it seems like a pretty straightfoward "I don't feel like I'm really doing my craft when there's a bunch of greenscreens instead of sets/on location and I want creative freedom". That's been an issue with directors leaving Marvel projects, as well.

Re: Future DC Studios projects discussion thread - News, rumors, etc.
He didn't just say, that he doesn't want to do a big comic book movie or he wouldn't do a DC (or Marvel) movie. He said, he wouldn't do a Gunn DC movie. That's a very weird way of putting it, if he really hasn't anything against the guy. If the size is the problem, he could have said he would do a DC movie, but not a big blockbuster, more something like Joker.

Right, because Gunn is the current guru there. But right before that he talks about his experience pre-Gunn with the DC universe and how it burned him out. It leaves him open to doing something with DC if they ever loosen up their process, at least that's how I read it.

Affleck literally says "I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that. I’m not interested in that." He clearly has some insight into what Gunn's vision is for DC and he doesn't want to make movies like that.
