I think Warner Bros is kicking themselves they had to push Batman v. Superman back to 2016, they had massive heat coming out of Comic Con and it will be hard to recapture that excitement for almost 24 more months. I believe they released that promo video to end the Gal Gadot pot shots and change the tone of fan discussion. Unfortunately it worked too well and people want to see the movie right now.

This seems so much like a reaction to Marvel's schedule and DC yelling "look at us! we have a plan and know what we're doing too!" and hoping everyone will believe them.
I wish they would stop trying to copy or match whatever Marvel is doing and just focus on telling good stories.

'Aquaman' Movie Hooks Two Writers (Exclusive)
4:08 PM PDT 8/12/2014 by Borys Kit
Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad are sleeping with the fishes.
The scribes are writing — separately — scripts for Aquaman, one of the installments in Warner Bros.’ multimovie scheme to create a cinematic universe based on the DC Entertainment characters.
Aquaman is being developed on dual tracks, where studios and producers hire two separate writers to work on the same project in the hopes of getting the best version. The practice allows for release dates to be set while a project is still in development while giving it a muscular push. Warners needs just that as last week it dated nine untitled DC movies between 2016 and 2020.
Warners is not revealing which one of those will be Aquaman, but the first untitled DC movie is due for release on Aug. 5, 2016, with two more due in 2017, on June 23 and Nov. 17, respectively.
Aquaman is one of comicdom’s classic characters, having been created in 1941 by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger. The character has been with the Justice League since the team's inception in 1960 and got a major boost in pop culture recognition with the 1970s cartoon series Super Friends. The show, however, also made him the butt of jokes about him being too hackneyed and simple; the perception was that all he could do was talk to marine animals.
(The jokes continue to this day. An Aquaman movie was at the center of a major storyline on HBO's Entourage and just last week Zack Snyder, who is directing Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as the Justice League movie, surprised a Detroit radio talk show, whose DJs were disparaging the hero, by calling in and defending him.)
Jason Momoa is widely acknowledged as having secured the role of Aquaman in Warners’ DC cinematic universe, although Warners had not yet officially confirmed the casting.
Both Beall and Johnstad are part of Warners’ familiar stable of scribes.
Beall wrote Gangster Squad for the studio and worked on a version of Justice League before the project was made part of the DC movie tapestry. The writer, who is repped by CAA, Management 360 and McKuin Frankel, also penned episodes of TV’s Castle.
Johnstad, repped by WME and Untitled, is a Snyder favorite, having worked on the director’s 300 and the recent Snyder-produced 300: Rise of an Empire.
Warners had no comment.

Eh, not good, not bad. Whatever. It's Aquaman, seems it would be within Johnstad's wheelhouse. THIS. IS. ATLANTIS!

That's the same tactic used for Lethal Weapon 4. Remember how that turned out?

The whole dual tracks thing makes it sound like they have no idea where they're going with this. It seems like Warner and DC want us to believe they have things planned out and aren't just making shit up as they go and hoping it works, but that's clearly what they're doing. It's been evident since the whole announcement of Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice if you ask me. Everything they do just seems like they're trying to catch up with Marvel and I can't help but feel we're going to end up with a lot of half assed films rather than good ones.

Even worse, what often happens is that studios execs try to cherrypick their favorite scenes from each script and meld them into one movie. The only reason Aquaman is getting a movie is because it can be set in water. If Hollywood understands one thing, it's epic water CGI.

Well their strategy of developing two Aquaman scripts simultaneously is basically what Sony did when they developed The Amazing Spider-Man alongside Spider-Man 4.
Wonder what indie romcom director they'll go with.

1. Bats VS Supes - Check
2. Wonder Woman – Check
3. JL - Check
4. GL/Flash or Arrow – Maybe Check
5. Metal Men (Rumors have it in the works)
-Humor
-CGI would be awesome
-Action
6. JL Dark – Status is still not a 100% go, but close (It will not be a part of the DC World)
7. Legion of Super Heroes (My Favorite Comic in the 70s, DC has to take risks like Marvel did with Guardians and “Maybe” Inhumans)
-Future
-Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy and Lightning Lad
-SO MANY story lines to go with (Even the Time Trapper and have a team up with the JL or a Teen age Supes)
-Space Battles
-So MANY different kinds of characters
8. WarLord (Another of my favs from the 70s, wish I never would have sold my entire collection of this one)
-Dinosaurs, Bad Wizards, Jungle, Brave man uniting against an un-stoppable foe
9. Young Justice (in about 8 years, after JL has been setup and matured)
10. Younger Batman
-Can be done with a different actor than Ben Affleck
-who then can take over the older Batman in the later JL movies
11. Earth 2 Justice Society of America (Different Earth, they can do any story line they want…taking down the big 3 “Supes, Bats and WW)
12. Kamandi: Last Boy on Earth
-Future, kind of like the Planet of the Ape, but with all animals
13. New Gods
14. Doom Patrol
15. The Outsiders (Last on my list, just thought I would throw this in. Not really a fav of mine.)
DC/WB has so much to pull from, and with the current state of the Comic Hero Geek World, I think most of these would be successful.
