Not only that, but the agent is Johnson's ex-wife.

All the "hierarchy of the DC Universe is about to change" talk came across as an ego trip. Turns out he was talking about management changes.

Correct. We thought he was positioning Black Adam to be the new Superman. Now we know different

I’m actually pretty thankful to The Rock for getting WB to finally bring Cavill back into the fold so we can finally get a proper sequel to Man of Steel.
I really don’t understand with all the shit they were talking about for so long why that was never a consideration until almost ten years later.

I love the move. I'm such a fan of Peacemaker and Suicide Squad.

This is the news I wanted to hear. Big score for DC. Absolutely love Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad was good as well. Plus Gunn has a good track record and his time with Marvel Studios makes him seem like a good fit.
Hopefully with him in a prominent role as well as good talents involved we can finally dig the DCEU out of the hole it’s been in.

Brilliant move. About the only thing right WB management has done so far...

Looks like Gunn will still make his movies and shows. So he won’t be locked up at the WB studios.
Zaslav did something right for a change. Hire someone who actually loves making movies and is a filmmaker. 9.9 times out of 10, these CEOs are just accountants.

Finally.... I was hoping they would make this move, especially since a good majority of Phase 4 has been a pile of dog shit and I'm guessing G3 is it for Gunn at Marvel.

This is great news. I look forward to see what they cook up next under this new leadership.

If he had not been originally fired from GotG3, I wonder if he would have had a chance to make Suicide Squad (and its Peacemaker series follow up) to be in this position with WBD?

Probably not. I'm sure he would have directed a DC movie at one point, but not yet and he most definitely wouldn't be the creative head of the whole operation.

Gunn was supposed to head the cosmic end of the MCU before his termination. Now I think he's just finishing up Guardians and that's it. He most likely wouldn't have been free to work with DC.

I do think Gunn is a great choice for a creative head, but it bears the same problem there was with Zack Snyder. He is first and foremost a director. With his own unique style and tone. While I really want more projects like The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, what I don't want is only Gunn style movies and series. I liked all three Snyder movies and I would've enjoyed a continuation of those movies, but not only those movies.
What I liked the most about the DCEU is that there are different tones and styles. The whey they got there was all messed up, especially when they changed the tone of Justice League and Suicide Squad into something those movies weren't.
But regardless of all the behind the scenes stuff, we got dark and over stylized Snyder movies, a dark and brooding Reeves Batman, over the stop and comedic Gunn projects and some mainstream comic book movies like Aquaman and Wonder Woman.
I didn't like every single movie, but I did like every single style.
Long story short. I happy they chose a great creative mind, but I have to wait and see, how he Gunn uses his power and how much influence his own creative style will have on other filmmakers.

I just don't see Gunn running DC like Feige runs Marvel. If reports are to be believed, individual directors over at Marvel have very little creative freedom and most every major decision is handled by a small group surrounding Feige.

I mean I actually think it’s better if Gunn doesn’t try to exactly emulate Feige and the MCU. Take some cues from sure but tweak some things too.
The idea of a DC Universe of films is great, but I think they can potentially be better than Marvel Studios by not being so pigeonholed by everything having to be so formulaic and safe.
I’d like to see DC continue to take risks, but just do it in a way that’s more coherent instead of everything being broken up or not exactly fitting together.
