Geoff Johns had a great five year run with Wally West.

I thought he was only involved with the Green Lantern movie. I don't think he really had much involvement with that either. Johns completely revitalized Green Lantern in the comics, and it was easily one of the most popular comic series of the 2000s. I don't think Johns would have allowed them to butcher the movie so badly if he really had that much input into it, so yeah I think his involvement was minimal.

As I recall, the GL flick was actually Geoff Johns second attempt at getting WB to make a GL movie. Reportedly the execs had told him the first go around that they liked the idea but wanted to ditch the ring. As for the actual movie that was eventually made, he had no say whatsoever but still got something like a consultant credit, I believe.

That was probably more the decision of the editor or someone higher up.

Re: Future Warner/DC Comics Movies?

I was always hoping for a Lobo film, but there bis no way they could do justice to the character, especially as they would never release it as an R rated film.

There have been R rated Punisher movies.

I'd assume Punny is cheaper than Lobo.

Yep. Neither did that well at the box office, esp War Zone ($10m worldwide off of only a $33m budget). The first one made $57m WW from also a $33m budget.

Re: Future Warner/DC Comics Movies?

It's not like there have never been R rated movies that have never sold well before. The Punisher movies just weren't very good. Good R rated movies can sell well.

Re: Future Warner/DC Comics Movies?

I think part of the Lobo problem is it would need to be a big budget space flick. Add in an R rating and the money people are going to get very nervous.

Punisher movies can always be relatively cheap. It's just a dude and some guns. There are 40 Danny Trejo movies at Redbox right now that fit that theme that cost a combined $7,500 to make.

Re: Future Warner/DC Comics Movies?

And it would have to be the old look Lobo...not the new 'straight out of Twilight' looking one:

What was the last good R rated flick? Crappy but successful R rated is easy. But good R rated on a big budget and successful?

It was about an old man driving around in a motorhome with a young boy he wasn't related to. At first I didn't get it because I was only 10 when it ran but when the older kids explained it to me it freaked me out a bit.

DC Plants Flag on Dates for Nine Superhero Movies Through 2020
August 6, 2014 | 01:29PM PT

Now it’s DC Entertainment’s turn to plant the flag on dates for untitled superhero movies through 2020.

Warner Bros. announced dates for nine new DC movies, starting in 2016, giving the studio two DC-based properties in theaters that year, beginning with”Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” out March 25, 2016.

The new dates are as follows:

Aug. 5, 2016: Untitled DC Film

June 23, 2017: Untitled DC Film

Nov. 17, 2017: Untitled DC Film

March 23, 2018: Untitled DC Film

July 27, 2018: Untitled DC Film

April 5, 2019: Untitled DC Film

June 14, 2019: Untitled DC Film

April 3, 2020: Untitled DC Film

June 19, 2020: Untitled DC Film

Let the speculation begin on what those will be.

I expect those dates to be written in sand, not stone. This feels like a reactionary move since Marvel publicized a schedule through 2030 or whatever. It's more of a P.R. stunt than anything else.

Just remember, this type of thing was rumored several months ago before Marvel made their announcement IIRC.

There's no way they wait 7 years to do MoS 2. But hey...this is DC/WB... so who knows.
