RIP Dick Smith

Haven't seen any details but several reports say the legend has passed away at 92.

Extremely sad day. He was the best.

Wow. I was just watching the extras on The Exorcist last night. The makeup for possessed Regan is obviously iconic, but the aging of Max Von Sydow in that movie is nearly as incredible. It was shocking to be reminded of how young Von Sydow actually was at the time The Exorcist was shot and how young he looked without the makeup.

Smith is a legend of cinema. RIP

The same can be said of Marlon Brando in The Godfather. Seeing production photos of Brando during filming is amazing with how young he actually was compared to how old he looked in the movie.

I still have his recipe for fake blood tucked away somewhere. I used it for a lot of Halloween costumes.

Re: RIP Dick Smith

My brother used to have one of his make up sets back in the late 70's or early 80s.
The "Horror Make-Up" set was really good - you could make realistic looking bullet holes and gruesome scars and apply them to your face.
