Man, the marketing for this movie has been killer. THAT is one helluva poster. I need it.
Anyone else think the hype on this is surprisingly low? Definitely nowhere near what Godzilla enjoyed in 2014. I really hope this one doesn't underperform (I need the MonsterVerse to be a success!) but sandwiching this between Logan and Beauty & the Beast seems like it wasn't a great move. B&B is a multi-quadrant film that will suck all the air out of the B.O.

Your questions are exactly what I think will prevent this one from breaking out. The marketing has been great - if you're a fan. For JSP, they have no idea where this film falls in line, and even worse may be confusing it as yet another remake of the old story.

I see that some of my local Arclight Cinemas will be screening this in 70mm. The Hollywood and Sherman Oaks locations, to be exact.
