You could just not watch it. It isn't really necessary to watch in conjunction with the MCU films.

Completely irrelevant to bring up in this thread, but Agents of SHIELD is such a good and entertaining show!

James Gunn comments on the rumor:
https://www.facebook.com/jgunn/?fref=ts
All right. From this moment on I’m going to stop commenting on any rumors surrounding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, because, eventually, someone is going to come up with a spoiler that has some truth to it. That said, the rumors surrounding Quill’s parentage at the present moment are completely false, and aren’t even close to the truth. I don’t know how people come up with this stuff, but it certainly isn’t through legitimate sources.
Also, I get the desire to get “scoops” on character inclusion and casting choices, etc. But since when is a plot spoiler a “scoop”? Is this really what fandom wants to know? Plot details in movies ahead of time? I got in this business because I love movies, and I think most film journalists are the same way. And spoiling plot details doesn’t add to the enjoyment of the film-going experience. So bravo to those folks out there who don’t partake in this sort of thing.
But, as I said, eventually someone will actually spoil some detail of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. So this will be my last comment squelching a rumor until May 2017. But if you do pick up on some plot detail between now and then, be aware, A) They are likely full of shit, as has been everyone so far who has claimed to have had inside info, and B) We’re creating a film that doesn’t rely on plot twists to be an enjoyable experience. They’re only a very small part of what we’re cooking up for you.

Links to the Kree would have been interesting, but glad it was debunked. As far as Gunn complaining about scoops, I for one love reading spoilers. Tough!

Why do you love reading spoilers? I'm seriously asking.
What's fun about it? Presumably, you only care if you have an interest in the movie, and if that's the case, why do you want to know the plot before you see it? Will that make a difference in whether or not you see it?
Are there any moviegoers left who actually like to be surprised?

I love knowing about details about the films. It doesn't affect me at all. I go into the theater and it's all blank state pretty much cuz I'm taking in everything it's throwing at me.
Unless I read the script, I pretty much accept it all in a blank state.
The thing w/ Balboa in Creed? Didn't even think about it at all till it came up. Meaning that... I didn't even remember about it happening at all cuz i'm engrossed in the experience. I just push everything out and accept all the information coming in at me hoping that it's a good movie.
For SW, I don't have much stock in that franchise at all so I don't give a fuck for information about it. If I come across, I'll read it but I won't search for it. Still excited to see it cuz it looks like a major step into quality over the PT.

Especially since there's psychological studies that indicate people enjoy something more when they know what's going to happen.

Kurt Russell Eyed to Play Chris Pratt’s Father in ‘Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 2’
DECEMBER 15, 2015 | 01:01PM PT
Justin Kroll
Kurt Russell is in early talks to play the father to Chris Pratt’s Starlord in Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” sources tell Variety.
James Gunn is returning to direct with Pratt, Zoe Saldana and David Bautista all expected to come back. “Oldboy” actress Pom Klementieff also recently joined the cast. Marvel had no comment.
Kevin Feige is producing with Gunn also writing the latest draft. The movie is set to bow on May 5, 2017.
Plot details are unknown at this time, but sources have indicated that Russell will play Pratt’s mysterious father figure. It is also unknown whether the character will be someone of major significance in the Marvel universe.
Production is set to start sometime in the first quarter of 2016.
After taking some time off, Russell has made a recent resurgence with major roles in “Furious 7,” “The Hateful Eight” and the upcoming Pete Berg action pic “Deepwater Horizon.” He is expected to reprise his role in the next installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, which shoots next spring.
Besides “The Hateful Eight,” he can also be seen in the western horror pic “Bone Tomahawk.” He is repped by CAA and RPMedia.
The news was first reported by TheWrap.

Holy fuck. Yes. I don't give a fuck who Star-Lord's dad is but if it's Kurt Russell? I don't give a fuck. Put him in the goddamn movie.

Russell himself confirmed the talks. “[The Guardians rumor] is one of those things that’s really funny,” he said in an interview with Wolfpop’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. “The way the world works today is very different from back in the day when nobody knew about anything. I literally got a phone call two days ago about this.”
There’s just one thing…
“I’ve never seen Guardians of the Galaxy. I don’t know anything about it. I’m one of the four idiots who have never seen it, evidently.”
He continued, “I tell you what: Many, many times I’ve heard, ‘That’s a really fun movie. Really good movie. Great characters.’ But I don’t know it. I didn’t realize [James Gunn] had written and directed it. So we talked to each other on the phone and I just had to be honest and say, ‘Thank you for considering me, I have to read it and I have to watch the movie, because I can’t bring anything for you. I got nothing to offer here.’ I’m amazed to get asked about this, because everybody knows more about it than I do.”
