TBBT I find nothing inspiring of. Pretty generic etc. Doesn't dare to be imaginative with its material.

I know the studio will try to spin it that way but that will not be the reason why that movie tanks.

You're right - the people who download movies on the Net aren't the people who go see movies in the theater anyway. As you noted, it's just a nice excuse if the movie bombs or under-performs.

Saw it Fri. Absolutely amazing. Great cast and story, awesome visuals. It was a good space flick. I loved it!

I came into this completely blind. I was intrigued by the previews an enjoy most of the Marvel films so far. I also have no familiarity with any of the characters as I was never a comic book follower. All that aside, this was easily one of the most entertaining adventure films I've seen in a long time. Watching this took me back to my childhood and seeing "Raiders of the Lost Ark" for the first time at 11 years old. Finally, here is an action/adventure film with characters that I can give a damn about.

Great movie. Pretty much everything positive would be redundant for this thread.
As far as the after credits scene, it's obvious that
will be in Avengers 2.

Notice that the marquee is advertising what format GOTG is playing in.
And check out the movie playing in the adjacent theater.
This is the Texas Theater in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas, notorious as being the place where Lee Harvey Oswald was captured roughly an hour after the assassination of JFK.

I love how Why So Blu insults everyone who's enthusiastic about the film, calling them mouth breathers and losers, and yet he's completely obsessed with the fact that the movie that's 99% disconnected from the main MCU didn't have a lead-in for Avengers 2, and appears to also be obsessed with how bad the Howard the Duck movie was. Hell, if I were as angry about a movie he liked, he'd label me a hater.
Maybe just let people enjoy the film and don't berate them condescendingly for it? Nah, much too hard work not judging people for things that don't matter.

Just got back and dug the hell out of the film. Loved the dance-off bit. Only quibble I had was the casting of Ronin. All I could see was the dainty elf from The Hobbit with roofing tar smeared on his face. Also, missed opportunity to add in some Kirby crackle into some of the cosmic effect shots.

This movie was pure awesome sauce! Usually when the credits roll on a Marvel movie, the general audience start to leave, but nearly everyone of them stayed this time to see the after credit scene.

Saw it in IMAX 3D, then 2D, then IMAX 3D. I definitely preferred IMAX 3D. Seemed like there was more clarity and the sound was better.

Saw it in Real 3D earlier in the week. Thought it looked fantastic. Great use of 3D. Loved the movie - James Gunn is definitely a child of the 80s.

My comic book friend/expert saw this and gave it a mixed review. He's read the original comic series and didn't care for some of the changes made. He didn't like that Ronan was turned into a religious zealot as opposed to a war monger/general type. He told me that if they had stayed true to Ronan's origins and whatnot he would have been kind of like Judge Dredd.
He also didn't like how they handled The Collector, because The Collector isn't some trivial being, he's a cosmic being, too, and those cats don't go out like that, and someone like The Collector wouldn't collect something as lame as Howard the Duck.
The scale of the Celestial flashback was also weird in that if the Nowehere head is from a Celestial then what beings was the Celestial obliterating during the flashback? Those beings would have had to have been huge, too.
Anyways.
