Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) 4K restoration / theatrical release 2014

from Dark Sky Film's Facebook page

this list seems tentative at the moment in that their might (and should) be some additions to follow, but here's the list so far of the dates/theaters that are showing this:

~~

Enclosed is the list of theaters where the 40th anniversary restoration of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE will be screening this summer. If more theaters book our restoration of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE over the summer we will most certainly let everyone know.
If you want to see THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE on the big screen in your area, ask your local arthouse/revival house - NOT multiplex, which would be a waste of time - to book it. We're trying to get this on as many screens as possible, but not every theater can book it. If they know the demand is there that will make things easier for us.
As you can see, there are a lot of 1 or 2 night bookings on here, so please make note of that. We'd love to see these screenings filled with more fans who want to see this horror classic on the big screen again, so please buy a ticket, bring your friends and show your support!

PLEASE NOTE:
There are still some additional dates in L.A. and Chicago that will be announced shortly, but this is the complete list of bookings thus far.

I'm more curious how this will look as compared to the previous releases on DVD and Blu.

Really? Dammit! Nothing in my neck of the woods unless I want a four hour there and back drive. Hope it goes wider, and Hooper hasn't Cameron-ed the colors and the Blu will have the mono. I do wonder if 4K is slightly overkill for a movie shot on 16mm.

The trailer they made for the BD looks like the way it's supposed to be. Granted... It's a trailer for a BD. SOOOOOO who knows if that did use the 4K stuff... You know?

I'd love it if this expanded to more locations, but it doesn't seem likely.

Are you going? I have never actually seen the original, and I am considering going to see it. Also I have never seen The Thing, and I think thats The Late Show in a couple of weeks.

Yes, I am very much thinking of going. I just can't positively say I'm going just yet.

Also The Thing is great. Very much a must-see for horror fans.

For those interested in the L.A. show and the opening night presentation with Friedkin moderating they just posted that due to overwhelming demand they have secured the Vista Theater for the event.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) 4K restoration / theatrical release 2014

I think I'm going to try to make it to one of the showings in Bellingham next weekend.

1) This is a movie that I think I'm not going to have an opportunity to see on the big screen again for a long time
2) I am really surprised that it made it to Bellingham considering it's a limited release. If this comes up again, I doubt it will be that close to me.

Still no Northern California dates

So jealous of everyone who gets to see this in a theater.
