OMFG. Just saw this today.
WOW. This film is sooooooo beautiful. It also very positive portrayal of Mexican culture. So so unique. I don't I've seen such a positive portrayal of Mexican characters in a film here in the states. Made me wish my dad was around so that he could see this thing. He would have loved it.
LOVE the cast of voices. The references. etc. Very witty flick. can't wait for the BD.

I saw this at a screening about a month prior to general release. I didn't really know much about it at the time, but it was a chance to take my daughter to the movies for free, so I took it. Actually enjoyed it a lot. Good story with a lot of heart, and I enjoyed the way they worked popular music into it.

I just watched this for the first time and absolutely loved it. Beautiful art design, very colorful imagery, and lots of depth in 3D. The sound design and the music were also great.
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the recording studio every time Channing Tatum had to exclaim "Joaquiiiiiiiiiin!"

I just watched this today too and thought it was fucking awesome.
It's a reference disc in 2-D.

I skipped this. Had no idea Del Toro was involved. Will have to watch.

Any idea how it did in its theatrical run? I'd like to believe it was a hit but something tells me it was likely overlooked.

EDIT: Found the answer via Wikipedia.
Budget: $50 million
Box office: $94 million
At least it made almost double what it cost to make but I doubt it would be remotely considered a hit.

I watched it again yesterday but in Spanish cuz my mom wanted to see it and was surprised that Diego Luna and Kate del Castillo also did the Spanish dub versions. Also, with the exception of "Creep," the songs were translated (for the most) to Spanish. It worked. I also ended up buying the Manolo Remembered FunkoPOP figurine.

This should have a lot of success on home video as people discover it. It isn't the best animated feature I've seen lately but it is of a really high quality and very unique.

Got this on BD cuz of BF. Fucking Hell. It's such beautiful movie. The visual is perfect. One of the best looking BDs around. Jesus. It's so goddamn good looking.
Ugh. I fucking loved this movie in theaters. And loved it more so at home... in Spanish. Damn. I fucking loved the dub. As previously stated, Luna and del Castillo dubbed their characters in Spanish. Kind of wished Trejo and some of the Spanish speakers did so. Even Perlman cuz he's dabbled in it too. Either way... such a great film. Love the BD. It's fucking perfect in Picture and Audio. The insanity of so much Mexican flair to it is just ecstasy for me.
I especially love Tatum's yelling of "Joaquin" during the action bits. Especially during his Shoryukens.
