I liked the first one, but don't think it is memorable enough of a movie for the general public to have that be the title of the sequel.

If it wasn't that memorable (I agree) then slapping a 2 at the end isn't going to make them remember it any more.

Wasn't that the working title when the sequel was first announced?

Well.....I don't know, I think more people would realize that "Now you see me 2" is a sequel to "Now you see me", as opposed to "Now you don't".....just based on common sense. Not that the general public has great common sense, but when a movie has a 2 after it, generally people realize its a sequel to the movie that is stated right before the number 2.

Quite possibly, yes. I think I read that somewhere, too.

Playing Dan's advocate, if the original did that badly, wouldn't it make sense to "distance" themselves from the original title? Now, people will see Now You See Me 2 and think, "Oh. A sequel to that dumb movie I didn't see? Well now I won't see this one either!" as opposed to if it was called Now You Don't, and those same people would think, "Now you don't WHAT?! What is this about? Take my money now, Mr. Chu and Co. Take my money NOW!"

Lame title...

One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their mind-bending spectacles, the Four Horsemen resurface in Now You See Me: The Second Act only to find themselves face to face with a new enemy who enlists them to pull off their most dangerous heist yet.

Sadly, I have a friend that puts Jumper and Man on a Ledge right next to each other every single time he goes to Best Buy.

Eh he's in his paycheck phase of his career which is dominated by passable big budget entertainment flicks (This, the Marvel movies), let him soak it up a little.

I mean he was in Foxcatcher last year, I didn't like it but it was a properly cast prestige movie.

And Begin Again (one of my favorites from last year). Ruffalo is very "one for them, one for me". And even the shittier movies he is in aren't even that shitty.

Okay, good point. I'll let it slide for now. Don't fuck it up, Ruffalo.

They could use it as a subtitle.

Now You See Me: Now You Don't

I suppose this would make it harder for films after that.

Now You See Me Again
Now You Still See Me
Now You Don't Again
Now I See You But You Don't See Me
Now You See Me For the Last Time

Don't forget the spin-off: Do You See What I See?

I must have seen that trailer three or four times before it occurred to be Isla Fisher isn't in the sequel.

She's far more important to the story than Michael Caine is. Wonder why she's not coming back.

They still haven't changed the name of the movie to "Now You Don't" eh?

Pass.

Boy, the whole China angle just seems like a blatant grab for international box office, doesn't it?

I wonder if Cho can pull off the breeziness of the first film?

It is written by the same folks that wrote the first one, so there could be hope. I liked the first one.

Currently 42% on RT: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/now_you_see_me_2/

I'm on the fence about seeing this in the theatre.

Give it the Fast and Furious treatment.

Now You See M3.
