I just watched This is The End last week and I liked this movie better. The end was good, but a good number of jokes relied on being familiar with the actors.

Re: The Interview (2014, D: Rogen/Goldberg) S: Seth Rogen, James Franco

Sony apparently isn’t the only one who lost money on “The Interview” last week.

A man in Ohio tried to cash in on the buzz surrounding Seth Rogen and James Franco’s new comedy when he purchased $650 in tickets or 50 passes at $13 each to the movie.

According to WCPO in Cincinatti, Jason Best learned that a local theater in Clifton was among the 300 theaters to play the controversial film on Christmas day and hoped to re-sell the tickets online at a higher price (a.k.a. he wanted to scalp them).

“I saw all the hype about ‘The Interview’ on the 23rd and thought, ‘hey, folks are selling these tickets in other cities and it seems like that’s the thing to do right now so why not give it a shot so see how it goes,”’ he said.

But the plan backfired once Sony announced it was streaming the film online for half the price on sites like YouTube, Hulu and Netflix.

Now the man is demanding a refund from the Esquire Theatre.

“I thought I’d get my money back because the theater’s website *very clearly* said the tickets were refundable,” Best told WCPO in an email.

But a theater manager told Best that the art house didn’t have a website and that “The Interview” was listed as a special event.

It turns out Best had purchased the tickets from movie tickets.com which specifically warns on its website that theater owners reserve the right to withhold refunds for special events.

Plus the manager said that scalping tickets was illegal.

The $40 million-budgeted “Interview,” which expanded to iTunes on Sunday, recently changed from a wide to limited release after North Korean hackers threatened to harm theater goers.

The R-rated comedy earned nearly $3 million at the U.S. box office this weekend.

Re: The Interview (2014, D: Rogen/Goldberg) S: Seth Rogen, James Franco

Sony has announced that “The Interview” has made more than $15 million online through Saturday.

The comedy, which has earned nearly $3 million in theaters, was rented or downloaded over 2 million times since hitting the Web on Tuesday, the studio disclosed.

more to come…

I wouldn't call Caplan stacked; she's very nice and all, but I imagine that's the work of a nice push up bra up there given the actual goods she's shown elsewhere

Yeah, after I seeked out some of her other work she's not very busty. Still looks nice, though.

Hmmm...wonder if my taste in movies is changing. I hated this. I didn't laugh at all and I had a nice buzz while watching it. We watched it with a bunch of friends on Saturday.

Out of the 8: 2 liked it, 3 thought it was jus OK, and 3 of us hated it.

I loved This is the End BTW .

Calling it now:

At the Oscars, someone - perhaps the host, but maybe even Rogen and Franco as presenters - will make a joke about how this is the one film Hollywood actually wants you to download.

Side bet: there will be a joke about how nice it is to actually have someone know who you are / know you for something else (maybe Seth will be happy his mom knows not only smokes a lot of pot but also causes international incidents, something like that), or maybe the whole thing was just a pot-induced dream.

Knowing how that all works out. I'm sure the writers for the show will put in some super lame humor that people will chuckle and laugh at cuz it is what it is for them.

"But the plan backfired once Sony announced it was streaming the film online for half the price on sites like YouTube, Hulu and Netflix."

Where is that article from? Because that's some pretty horrendous fact-checking/reporting. It's on ONE of those three sites. The other two are subscription services, not a la carte VOD rentals.

Just another example of how people don't understand how streaming services work and the differences between them. They're just throwing out names that they've heard.

The movie is available on iTunes now:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/th...ew/id948499637

It's not immediately clear if it has 5.1 surround, but iTunes supports 5.1 for movies, so it's possible.

I wonder if they'll have the balls to make an Amy Pascal/Scott Rudin joke. Cut to a stone-faced Angelina Jolie for her reaction!

Agreed. Anyone who's live for five minutes in the pop culture climate knows those facts, that a professional magazine could miss them so blatantly is inexcusable.

Nope you're not the only one, I didn't like "The Interview" at all. It didn't even get a smile out of me. James Franco is simply not funny.

I didn't care for it either. There were a handful of funny moments, but mostly it just fell flat for me. Easily the worst of their on-screen pairings.

We went to an independent theatre and saw the Interview. We thought it was great for what it was.

I hope Sony will produce a limited edition BD with bobble head figurine for such a culturally and socially important movie!
