I've only seen his TDTESS. I thought that was kind of neat.

He any good in the overall?

I was literally like meh, when I heard the news. A young Alan Rickman should be Dr. Strange.

I don't know anything about Doctor Strange, but when I look at him, I picture Dr. Orpheus from the Venture Bros. Is he anything like that? I like that character and his melodramatic voice.

How about Berry Pepper? He's an underrated actor who deserved higher profile roles, IMO.

Dr. Orpheus is a parody of Dr. Strange. So he's like in the way The Tick's Batmanuel is like Batman.

I think Viggo could pull this off.

If we're de-aging people I want young Lawrence Olivier.

Cumberbatch, hardy on short list per deadline:

I'd prefer cumberbatch out of the two.

Me too. I'd prefer Edgar Ramirez, though.

Yeah, I know many are pushing for Pedro pascal or littlefinger, but its clear from this early list Marvel is looking for someone with Movie experience.

I always think Cumberbatch looks weird, so not really a fan of him for this. Although Hardy doesn't really fit the look to me either.

Re: Doctor Strange (201?) (D: Derrickson)

Cumberbatch does great work, as does Hardy obviously. I think if Hardy slimmed down he'd be great. In Bane mode he'd be awful.

Re: Doctor Strange (201?) (D: Derrickson)

How slimmed is he now? He had been pretty big since Bronson. He looks smaller from what I can tell from the Mad Max pics.

Re: Doctor Strange (201?) (D: Derrickson)

He's been slim since after TDKR. He was shredded for Warrior, so I'd say he's smaller now. He was average in Locke. Mad Max has been done for a while now, too. Either way, BC is a better fit for Strange than Hardy, IMO.

Re: Doctor Strange (201?) (D: Derrickson)

I think Derrickson's background in horror will elevate the material. I thought his remake of Day the Earth Stood Still was atrocious but loved Hellraiser: Inferno, Exorcism of Emily Rose (that movie fucked me up for a while), and certain parts of Sinister. I'm really looking forward to Deliver Us From Evil.

Is Emily Rose a solid flick?

Yep. That film started Jennifer Carpenter's career and Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson are great in it. If you watch it I'd suggest getting the UNRATED DVD, because the Blu-ray fucked up and they never properly added the subtitles to the demons when they speak (you have to switch the SDH titles to know what's being said). It's a 50/50 a courtroom drama with some freaky ass demonic possession type of shit.

That's why I'm really EXCITED to see Deliver Us From Evil.

Re: Doctor Strange (201?) (D: Derrickson)

Hrmmmm.

Soooo how much of a big deal is it that the subtitles aren't there normally?

Re: Doctor Strange (201?) (D: Derrickson)

The demon is speaking in tongues at the end. So there were English subtitles in the scene when it screened theatrically. If you watch it without the subtitles, you won't get any of what it's saying. It's kinda the climax of the film.

Re: Doctor Strange (201?) (D: Derrickson)

Well that sucks. Hrmmmm. So I'd have to switch to the subtitles at the end to "properly" get the experience? That's not cool.

Not just the end. The middle too.
