Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Which do you like more i'm curious? They appear to be the most flawless of trilogies to me because their worst entires (FOD or ROTJ) are still freaking good and do not disenfranchise the trilogy as a whole to a degree unlike so many other trilogies while their very best (whatever else you pick of them) are among the creme de la creme of it all.

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Dollars. ROTJ was borderline unwatchable to me (it was irritating and I couldn't wait for it to end)

Dollars.

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
I threw it in like a capturd bandit on the ground or a frozen space outlaw. I was contemplating adding in the first three James Bonds also, what do you think forget this one, and go threeway?

Star Wars

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Star Wars
I had to google Dollars trilogy because I had no idea what it was. I did watch The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly a long time ago, but I had no idea it was part of a trilogy. I didn't like the movie at all, and so really I don't care to watch the other two either. |
Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Surprised LOTR trilogy wasn't included. Voted Star Wars.

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Star Wars ST (hopefully) > Dollars Trilogy > Star Wars OT > crotch rot > Star Wars PT.
|
Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
LOTR is riding on one solid flick so it is even below trilogies which are riding on 2 like the first two of the Godfathers, Mad Max's, Indiana Jones's, etc.

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Dollars. At least those retain their original intent.

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
PT > Dollars > ST

Although the "restoration" of GBU in 2003 was as much of a desecration (if not more) than whatever it was Lucas did to his films. |
Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Dollars. Never was a big Star Wars fan, except for the action figures.
|
Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
I'm going to say it. I don't consider the Dollars films to be a trilogy.

Both are poorly represented on home video, if that's what we're talking about.

Ditto.
Although the "restoration" of GBU in 2003 was as much of a desecration (if not more) than whatever it was Lucas did to his films. The remixed soundtrack is a certainly disappointment, if not surprising given that similar remixes have been done for countless films. The newly recorded dialogue is distracting, but I kind of respect the effort. I think the inclusion of the Tucco cave scene is the only truly controversial change given that Leone deleted it after the initial premiere in '66. Don't get me wrong, I wish the U.S. theatrical version was made available alongside the extended version, but I find the extended version still has merit. The changes made to the Star Wars films on the other hand are completely nonsensical and far too numerous to even recount. As someone who is a huge fan of both trilogies, I can say that I'd rather watch the GBU extended cut 100 times before watching the BD versions of Star Wars. |
Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
For me it is the Dollars trilogy easily. Sci-Fi is my favorite genre, but Star Wars is more fantasy than Sci-Fi.
|
Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
To me, all three Dollars movies were excellent, fresh and brimming with ideas. For Star Wars, that only applies to two out of three.

The ending of The Good The Bad And The Ugly should be changed to where Angel Eyes and Blondie shoot at the same time but Blondie ducks to the right in the cemetery showdown.

Fucking Boba Fett wishes he were half as intimidating as a hair on Angel Eyes' nut sack.

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Dollars trilogy.
SW has 2 great films and one film that quickly went down in quality. It's kind of enjoyable but really it's a huge dip in quality. SW was awesome. ESB was even better. Then ROTJ just went mostly mediocre. The Dollars films kept going up in quality....possibly. I do really like AFoD...I might actually like it more than TGTBTU. But the last film is wildly epic. I'm still iffy on my preorder with the trilogy. |
Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Dollars and it's not even close.

Same, the first and third LOTR movies were solid. I know some consider Two Towers to be the only good entry, but that one is essentially skipable to me.

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
ROTK gets full of itself. Though I still enjoy it. The EC of TTT is fucking solid. The TC is alright. FOTR is good in any form.

dollars for me to!

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
Dollars for me. GBU is my all time favorite, so that tips the balance.

Re: Dollars trilogy vs. Star Wars OT
If one was to just go by the posted comments, Dollars would be winning in a landslide.
