How cool would it have been if that was Vader's Tie at the end?

When this was first announced I thought it was a terrible idea, filling in every last detail of the OT story till there was no mystery left, but I'll be damned if that trailer doesn't look fantastic. I just hope the movie is as good as that looks, because I'd be happy to watch that as a prequel to A New Hope.

I actually think this will be a very good SW and most fans will enjoy (the nitpickers will complain, but that's the internet). I will say that people need to temper their expectations because I don't think it will blow people away as this great movie. I'll enjoy it the same way I did with TFA, it will be better then the Prequels, but won't be as great as the Originals.

I will say that thank god Disney decided to get away from the CGI worlds that Lucas used in the Prequels. TFA and Rogue One just feel real to me, as the Prequels feel like one big video game.

That trailer was outstanding. It feels 'expansive'... I don't know if that's the right word but it feels like the last two movies has shown us this immersive universe that the OT and PT couldn't or wouldn't.

Edwards continues to prove he understands shot composition and scaling better than most directors. If nothing else, this will be a visual feast.

My comment was more for those arguing semantics as to whether energy blasts can penetrate armor or some shit.

In any event - I think it looks good. I thought the teaser also looked cool but the fact that Edwards has been demoted to "consultant" should tell you that Disney didn't have faith in his vision. Yeah, it's Star Wars, but still. This was supposed to be a "war" movie installment. Now it's going to be a misfit squad type of film. The tonal shift is apparent.

I love Felicity Jones, though, and we finally get some Mexican representation in the galaxy from Diego Luna, so that helps.

Oh, and I'm also calling it right now:
Spoiler:
Felicity dies in the end.

More likely is that they all do considering how fucking intense it was at the beginning of SW in getting those plans. I actually would like to see that go. I mean, it's still kind of a 50/50. They get the plans but some very big shit happens from the Empire and ... the Rebels win at the end but at heavy costs too.

Pretty much the same here. This actually gives you the feeling of being in a galaxy long ago, versus the feeling of playing a video game for the prequels.

Mendelsohn isn't playing Grand Moff Tarkin right? Did we have a sighting of Tarkin in the trailers?

No, he's playing a "Director" character whose name I can't recall but has been confirmed in merchandise listings.

I could easily see every one of these characters die at the end. That'd be great.

Looks great, I'm so glad we are past the video game look of the prequels. In many ways this looks more gritty, almost like the first film.

Well, the prequels did take place "Before the dark times. Before The Empire", afterall.
