That's the number one thing the Prequels missed for me. R2-D2 was the only really great connection and they fucked him all up with his stupid jet engines and gadgets.
You mean an AT-AT on Endor?

That was also just a quick scene.

But when you think AT-ATs, you think Hoth. Likewise for AT-STs on Endor.

So seeing an AT-ST on a city street and the AT-ATs on a beach makes me all kinds of happy.

I LOL'd at that.

Wasn't the Russian poster kinda like what you guys are describing? with the upside down rebel helmet and the storm troopers/AT-AT in the background.

It was smart of the rebels to pick a beach for a battle, given a certain someone's hatred of sand. That's some Mark Cuban at the debates level shit.

I think it's funny the posters is showing the standard Stromtroopers in the water when they have already produced an action figure of the trooper who seems to be specific to the beach locale.

This is looking great, but I'm wondering how it will do with the casual fan. Yesterday, somebody approached me at work, asked if I knew about Star Wars, so I said yes, and he wanted to know when this movie was set because he wasn't seeing the characters from The Force Awakens. Once I explained it's right before Ep IV, he got it, but I still wonder how many others are out there like that?

I'm assuming he's a captive and that's why the first DS had such a catastrophic weakness ....

1. Looks good
2. A flashback scene in a Star Wars film? That's a first.
3. I'm detecting a major Seven Samurai influence.
4. Over on wiki it says this was film entirely on 70mm celluloid. Is that true?

Based on what I've read, the film was shot with Ultra Panavision 70 lenses on Arri Alexa 65 (6K digital) cameras.

Ohhhh. I didn't realize the Arri 65 is a digital camera. That's a terrible, confusing name.

Now that is some next level retconning. "I'm being forced to design this against my will, so I will will just put this silly little weakness ... here."

They flashbacked in Force Awakens with Rey yelling out as a kid when separated from her parents. Though I guess that was part of a vision, I assume that moment actually happened.

This is still looking as if it could be the best Star Wars movie yet. I can sense a bit of tonal change in this trailer -- it is a bit lighter and focused on hope -- but I am dying not only to see this, but to know what the changes were in the reshoots.

I still don't get the studio exec trying to temper expectations. This seems to be what I have wanted for decades.

Yes, this seems like Star Wars. The VII film saga (so far) are these personal stories going on amidst a larger war. This is about soldiers in that war doing war shit. This IS the war.

Looks cool. Expect Mads to get killed, though. It's not a spoiler but that trailer does it for you twice.

Interesting if they don't use a lightsaber at all here.

Which guy has the biggest gun?

Based on how SW opens up.... a lot of people are going to die to just get that info to Leia. Yeah. All of this cast is going to die. I hope they do. Makes the film stronger, I'd guess. This is a war that is lost in the short run. Long run the Rebels do win w/ taking down the DS. But... the lead up to that means a lot of blood being spilled.

Vader will. No doubt that Vader will kick ass from the way they talk about it. Like... use stormtroopers as shield w/ the force type of badass.

This is looking great. I loved The Force Awakens but this almost looks a bit better. Really liking the idea of seeing something outside of the main Episode storylines.

Killing off the whole team would be too dark. I don't think Disney would allow that.

I expect both the Rebellion and Empire to think Jyn and Cassian are dead but it's revealed they survived.
