Favorite movie theme?

Re: Favorite movie theme?
If we don't have to choose original compositions for movies then "Siegfrieds Death and Funeral March" from Gotterdamerung and "O Fortuna" from the Carmina Burana for Excalibur. Possibly the greatest choral piece and greatest symphonic piece ever written both in the same movie.
If original I would probably go with Betty Blue

A couple spring to mind as favourites. First and foremost, Dave Grusin's achingly beautiful theme for On Golden Pond is among the most beautiful piano works ever composed, and chokes me up every time, especially the opening notes. (turn the volume way up; it's quiet)

I also love Stanley Myers's gentle guitar theme from The Deer Hunter:

Re: Favorite movie theme?
The first time I saw Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid was when I bought the Peckinpah box set in 05. I watched the special edition a good 10 times before I watched the the other cut. Maybe its somewhat because the Special Edition is the one I fell in love with, but I MUCH prefer the 05 Special edition. It's my favourite Peckinpah film and probably one of the 10 best films I've ever seen.

Bar none:

I even love the atmospheric chimes behind the exposition crawl. Hearing this in a theater blasting out of a huge sound system is pretty amazing.
